God has designed each family to be a culture. It is the duty of the father to ensure that the shaping takes place according to biblical wisdom. Through the Messiah, God promised blessings to his people, "their children, and their children's children forever". The norm for faithful members of the covenant is that their children will follow them in their faithfulness. The oddity should be children who fall away. Unless we reestablish faithful Christian culture in countless homes, we will never reestablish it anywhere else.

Our modern society has called for us to “smash the patriarchy”, and the church has not done much better. Instead of telling men how they can hone and refine their aggressive traits, the church has told men that they should aspire to be meek servant-leaders, and when a man shows any signs of independence, he is shown the door. Men are supposed to found households, join brotherhoods, and work toward a mission. God made men to be strong and aggressive risk-takers. This is a feature, not a bug. Foster and Tennant remind us that it’s good to be a man.

Best work on culture war practical advice
Doug Wilson is one of the greatest gifts to the church we have had in the past century. His charismatic, wry style make this book come alive, even while working through the map of the war and giving orders to the troops. Everything about it is encouraging, and motivating. This book should be put at the front of every Christian’s reading list, immediately.

Content Is Great, But . . .
In my opinion, the vast majority of Wilson’s books are great! However, the monotoned narration made getting through this book like listening to stereo instructions being read to me by someone who’s drained of any serotonin or dopamine. 😑🥱😵💫😴

Timeless truths
This book holds timeless truth, not because of the sage wisdom of Wilson, but because the principles are rooted directly in the timeless wisdom and truth of the Bible. I was challenged several times and audibly responded “Amen!” once or twice. Take the time, do yourself and those around you, a favor and read this book!
