The husband is the head of the household, and this means that the problems of the family members are not their problems but his problems. The husband cannot just dismiss his wife's problems as something she needs to work through by herself, and the parents cannot complain when his kids don't act like they were taught to. The family is bound together in covenant.

This book covers everything from marriage to childrearing to cultural engagement. The family is not just a collection of individuals: it is a unit joined together by God, and we should live as though that were true (because it is).

In the initial two chapters, Douglas Wilson presents insightful analysis on marital dynamics and pertinent issues. As a pastor, I have sought additional resources for counseling, and this concise read offers valuable information and guidance for both husbands and wives, as well as parents. This book is highly recommended for both pastors and married couples.

harmful to woman who are in relationship with abusive men.

while the men's chapters had smaller issue, the woman's chapters discredited amd glazed over the affects of abuse and never once addressed how a woman who IS married to an abusive man should handle anything. "a godly woman is sexually responsive" was just one quote that is riddled with issues, it seems Douglas does not comprehend how abuse affects a woman's sex drive, nor does he understand that woman have responsive sex drives, which means a woman's sex drive is dependent on the circumstances, which ends up meaning if her husband is not emotionally safe, her sex drive will be stifled by HIS behaviors. but according to Douglas, a Godly woman ignores all of that and bites the bullet and receives whatever sexual escapades her husband presents, despite anything, otherwise she is to be labeled as "ungodly". would NOT reccomend to any couples who might be experiencing any level of abuse.
