About this listen

When CIA agent Janessa Rogers meets the royal family of Meridia on assignment, she expects to use her skills in linguistics and security detail to protect and serve, but she doesn't expect to find herself engaged to Prince Garrett Fortier, Meridia's most eligible bachelor, as part of the security plan. And she certainly doesn't expect to fall in love with him.

Janessa resists her feelings, fearing conflicts in her personal and professional life, yet when the Prince admits his feigned affection has become genuine she can no longer pretend. Matters of security, society, and spirituality make their unlikely romance even more complex, and escalating political intrigue gives Janessa an excuse to ignore the questions in her heart. But when a terrorist plot against the royal family endangers them both, Janessa and Garrett must face the challenges of loyalty to family, to country, to God - and to love.

the story was solid if you can overlook the fact that this was clearly written to bring readers into the LDS church

I was invested in the characters almost immediately and I felt like I was cheering them on as the story went on. The plot was great and I sat on the edge of my seat often during the height of story. What a fun read!

Very engaging!

MY TAKE
I read this book years ago and wished it was available in audiobook on Audible. I found it. I loved being able to revisit this story and these characters.

Kim Christenson did a great job with the narration, though I had to slow the playing down to 85% because it was really fast.

Love it!

I really enjoyed the book but I found the narrator read this at such a fast clip that I felt like I was in a race. I put it on 3/4 speed and although it was a touch too slow, it was much better that the original speed.

I like the story and it being a clean romance. The reader is always reading a tad fast.

Fun, clean, but in a hurry

Writing is flat. There is no humor and the narrator sounds like a computer, down to mispronouncing words the way a computer would.

Just…awful

It’s missing parts of the chapters. It skips a lot. The story is excellent but the audio needed to actually slow down and not skip or miss parts of the chapters.

Good book bad audiobook

She needs more dramatic conversational reading skills instead of blasting through the words. The story was fine but the narrator really is in need of further work.

Narrator is a struggle to listen to
