About this listen

Aaliyah Williams had her life in order. Hiking guide in the summer and ski instructor in the winter. She never spent more than a week or two with any group of people and that’s just the way she liked it. Close but not too close.
Enter Jack LaPlante, photographer extraordinaire and a man determined to win her heart. As Aaliyah and Jack embark on their first hiking tour together, they are drawn to each other by their shared love for nature and their ability to capture its beauty. Their friendship blossoms against the backdrop of autumn’s vibrant colors, sparking a curiosity and attraction that neither can deny.

However, as their connection grows stronger, Aaliyah grapples with her fear of commitment and worries about what the future holds.

Just when things seem to be falling into place, Jack faces a career opportunity that could separate them geographically. The couple must navigate the challenges of a long-distance relationship while keeping their bond alive through heartfelt letters, video calls, and surprise gifts.

But love knows no distance, and Aaliyah and Jack plan an eagerly-anticipated reunion weekend in their beloved hometown of Autumn Ridge. As they reconnect and create new memories, they rediscover the magic that brought them together in the first place.

With Aaliyah’s hand-drawn map symbolizing their journey as a couple, they explore their shared experiences and reaffirm their commitment to each other. Together, they face obstacles, including a heated argument stemming from Jack’s working relationship with a charismatic model. Their ability to confront their fears and insecurities will test the strength of their love.
In a heartfelt attempt to mend their relationship, Jack makes a grand gesture with a photography exhibit showcasing their shared memories.

But will it be enough for him to re-win her heart?

AI author and narrator

This author is clearly actually a computer program. There is no “Zoe Bliss” author. The story has a ton of blaring inconsistencies and it doesn’t really make sense. In the beginning of the story, Jack was new to town and had come from a big city. He met Aaliyah by going on one of her guided hikes. Then they go on a hike together a few days later. Then, Aaliyah is talking to her roommates about whether to date Jack or not. Suddenly, it seems like the next time she sees Jack, he is offered a job in L.A. so they decide to have a long distance relationship. There are references to all of the many hikes and times they had spent together. Then after many months he is fired without explanation. So he moves back to Autumn Ridge and they are referring to growing up together there??!! Then it is implied that Jack is living with Aaliyah and they both have to tighten their budgets, but what about her 3 roommates? That doesn’t make any sense… Not to mention the lack of emotional connection expressed in the story. They at least need a human editing these AI written books, so they actually are a consistent story. The AI generated narrator isn’t that bad, but the lack of differentiation between when the male character and female characters are speaking makes it hard to track who’s speaking. Human narrators usually speak in a different tone depending on who’s talking. The whole thing is just a little bizarre…
