About this listen

Long before the coming of the Imperium, the realm of Ultramar was ruled by Roboute Guilliman, the last Battle King of Macragge. Even after learning of his true heritage as a primarch son of the Emperor of Mankind, he strove to expand his domain as efficiently and benevolently as possible, with the XIII Legion Ultramarines as his alone to command.

Now, facing a rival empire on the ork-held world of Thoas, Guilliman must choose his weapons carefully - otherwise his dream of a brighter future could be lost forever.

not my favorite, but an entertaining listen

I am a huge Ultramarines fan and an even bigger fan of Guilliman. I like this book because it captures Guilliman and his thought processes but I enjoyed Know No Fear a lot more.

GMan

It’s ok. The build up is great but the ending is a little lack luster.

Not really a primarch book

Just a book about a cool ork battle the Guilliman was a part of. Provided no insights about Roboute, no real character defining, character changing, or character driven choices. Not even a great fight

misleading title

how do you wrote a book called roboute guilliman and it's not even really about guilliman?

Appropriately boring

Theoretical: A prequel book about one of the most tactically minded primarch's should be an incredibly interesting look into the mind of a tactical genius.
Practical: A book that somehow manages to avoid Guilliman himself whenever it can, a narrator that is appropriately disinterested, and the most uninteresting ways to describe the battle.

The only part that I found remotely interesting was when guilliman took down a giant ork vehicle single-handedly. Made me wanna read a likely more interesting book about Orks.

Is a good story

Was hoping this lead to something more then pretty much being a standalone story. Similar to a few other primarch books.

Good book

It is a short audio book but the fighting starts early and stops at the very end of the book. Enjoyed this one a lot.

Good but not great

short and sweet review on a short and serviceable novel.

Big Ultramarine and Roboute Guilliman fan here, was excited to give this a go and while it was a good listen I found myself clocking out at certain points but it was by no means terrible.

Good

A interesting look at the beginnings of the Codex Astartes and Roboute Guilliam. I wish it covered more than one battle.
