Acerca de esta escucha

Fully authorized by the Margaret Mitchell estate, Rhett Butler's People is the astonishing and long-awaited novel that parallels the Great American Novel, Gone with the Wind.

Twelve years in the making, the publication of Rhett Butler's People marks a major and historic cultural event. Through the storytelling mastery of award-winning writer Donald McCaig, the life and times of the dashing Rhett Butler unfolds.

Through Rhett's eyes we meet the people who shaped his larger than life personality as it sprang from Margaret Mitchell: Langston Butler, Rhett's unyielding father; Rosemary his steadfast sister; Tunis Bonneau, Rhett's best friend and a onetime slave; Belle Watling, the woman for whom Rhett cared long before he met Scarlett O'Hara at Twelve Oaks Plantation, on the fateful eve of the Civil War.

Of course there is Scarlett. Katie Scarlett O'Hara, the headstrong, passionate woman whose life is inextricably entwined with Rhett's: more like him than she cares to admit; more in love with him than she'll ever know.

Brought to vivid and authentic life by the hand of a master, Rhett Butler's People fulfills the dreams of those whose imaginations have been indelibly marked by Gone with the Wind.

this was a great story that gave insights to untold parts of Gone with the Wind. it has a different ending than Scarlet, the original Gone with the Wind sequel. Both are good stories that just take a different direction. I loved this book!

very good!

The book captures Rhett Butler and all of his glory. It also captures the Darker side of the south.
It is Historically accurate in how African American were so Brutally treated. the N word is thrown alot so just a heads up. In some places it was hard to stomach but history is history the good and the bad. this book has it all

True to form

Such a great job experiencing events from Rhetts POV and those which were happening in in his life while absent from Scarlett’s.

It worked nicely with the original novel. However, if you’ve only seen the movie you may find it confusing or out of sequence.

So much better than “Scarlett”.

Perfect Sequel to Gone with the Wind!

the narrator isn't right. Also some important pieces are brushed over. Bonnie's death especially. I liked that there was story after GWTW ended but it was predictable. Yay happy ending, I suppose.

I like anything gone with the wind. This book is great for driving, painting, walking just let's your mind wonder what happens after he gives a damn? If there were any more books on Rhett and Scarlett I'd read them.

Rhett Butler’s forlorn character did not match up to Margaret Mitchell’s assertive, masculine Rhett Butler.

Disappointed in Rhett’s character

conflict in story lines between gwtw Scarlett and this book. th8s guy takes a much darker and violent view, but then I suppose that foul watling father might have nursed his grudge for a lifetime and Josie and the foul Archie flyte bad people.

While the title suggests the book was more about Rhett Butler, a good portion of the book was about Scarlett. There was a separate book by Alexandra Ripley on Scarlett’s passage after Gone With the Wind I would’ve like more about Rhett and the life he had after Melanie’s death.

Disappointing

I will say what I didn’t like first.
1.I wish this book focused MORE SOLELY on Rhett Butler
2. There are so many characters it can be hard to keep up.
That said this is an excellent book. The pacing can be hard at first but once you get into the flow it transforms into this beautiful world that a sequel of Gone with the Wind was meant to be. With the chosen narrator I can’t help but think of Clark Gable as Rhett Butler speaking in my mind. I am so happy this book is an official sequel. It is a book I’m happy to own and will continue to love to read.

Rhett Butler is a man of many people

This was a good book from Rhett Butlers view but it can’t hold a candle to the book “Scarlett”

Interesting but not as good as Scarlett
