Rhett

I’m the eldest Swift brother, the one who should have taken care of my siblings and protected them, but I’ve never been the kind of brother they deserve.

Both Morgan and East had the courage to walk away from our abusive father before I did, but now that I have, there’s no turning back. With that comes the realization that my whole life has been spent trying to be exactly what my father wanted, what I hate.

My brothers are moving on with their lives, and that brings Tripp Cassidy and his daughter, Meadow, into my orbit. For a reason I can’t understand, they both seem to like me. Tripp asks me about my favorite things, pushes me to figure out my dreams, and at thirteen years old, Meadow knows herself better than I ever have.

Every day I spend with Tripp, I can’t stop myself from looking at him differently, from craving him like I’ve never craved anyone. I haven’t been with a man, but from Tripp’s first touch, I never want him to stop.

There’s a lot to figure out—Tripp has been burned by love before, and he has Meadow to consider. I’m still working through my guilt and learning how to be the brother and man I’ve always wished I’d been. But for the first time in my life, true happiness is within reach, if only I could find a way to grab it.

Rhett is the emotional, hopeful, final book in the Swift Brothers series. It’s a small-town, hurt/comfort, single-dad romance with mature characters, demisexual awakening, strong family vibes, and the happily ever after they deserve. Rhett deals with sensitive themes of grief, loss of a parent/sibling (in the past), verbal/emotional abuse by a parent.

I love low angst, heartfelt, slow burn romances between mature characters. The beautiful depth and growth of the MCs throughout the series are amazing, but Rhett's story is the one that touches me the most. Being a demi-bisexual I always appreciate thoughtful representation by talented authors like RH. Thank you!

so many happy tears

Oh my heart! I just knew this author would do right by Rhett and his brothers. Rhett was such a good soul, damaged by years of his father's expectations and selfishness. Trip was just perfect for him and watching them fall in love was splendid! The characters and relationships in this book were glorious. Tripp and Rhett; Rhett, East, and Morgan; and Meadow and Rhett--they all just warmed my heart as they navigated new relationships and mending old ones. While I'm sad to say goodbye to the Swift brothers, I couldn't have asked for a better ending. Loved it! I listened to the audio and Kale Williams was amazing bringing all the emotions and feelings to life!

Excellent!

I absolutely loved Morgan’s and Easton’s stories, but Rhett completely stole my heart. The character development was rich and authentic, and the bond between Rhett and Tripp was beautifully tender and full of genuine care. Their connection felt both wholesome and passionate. Kale Williams brought the story to life with his narration—perfection, as always. Riley Hart continues to prove why she’s a standout voice in M/M romance, delivering emotional depth and heartwarming love stories every time. I only wish this wasn’t the end of the series!

Best of the Series

I have enjoyed this series as a whole - performed excellently by Gregory Salinas and then Kale Williams. That bar scene at the end was reminiscent of "Griff's Place" which is fitting since Rhett kinda reminds me of Griff. All three boys touched me in many ways and although I am sad to see them go, I am ecstatic that they all met handsome, caring men and had wonderful HEAs. The bonding scenes with the brothers are a real treat...and Also! That wonderful, magical girl Meadow! What a young, beautiful soul.

4 Starz - worthy of a repeat listen

Beautiful story about redemption and what putting yourself first for the betterment of others and yourself means

Redemption

I knew Rhett was going to be a challenge for me to get into because of his character in the previous two books. Riley Hart is generally a master of redemption arcs and while she worked hard to show Rhett's motivations and scars, I just couldn't quite get there. My own personal history with a toxic sibling made it too difficult for me to get behind a character that went to his mid 40s before trying to change.

Aside from my struggles to sympathize with Rhett, this one was just overly sweet. Each book in this series has suffered a bit from the non-Swift MC being too perfect, and Tripp was just OTT too good to be true imo. He didn't feel real, and the perfect relationship he had with his daughter didn't feel real to me either. I'm all for sweet MCs and positive interactions, but when they're nothing but pure goodness, all the time, it makes it feel unrealistic and that cheapens the impact imo.

Just one argument or scene where Tripp was in a bad mood, or reacted poorly to something and then had to correct would have done wonders for this book. There were also a few moments where character dialogue felt like a lecture from a textbook on sexuality instead of a real conversation and acceptance, which I've noticed happens frequently in her books.

I also really, really wish she would vary her spicy scenes. Every single MC in her library is obsessed with balls and they always, always have to say something about wanting to work a load out. It makes the scenes feel all the same, even when she mixes up k1nks. Maybe it's just me and I've just read too many of her books recently, but I'm begging her to change it up lol.

I always love Kale's voice acting and he did a great job. I think I would like this better when I'm in the mood for pure fluff, but I definitely prefer Riley's usual good but not perfect MCs better.
