About this listen

Caleb Becker left Paradise eight months ago, taking with him the secret he promised to take to his grave. If the truth got out, it would ruin everything. Maggie Armstrong tried to be strong after Caleb broke her heart and disappeared. Somehow, she managed to move on. She's determined to make a new life for herself. But then Caleb and Maggie are forced together on a summer trip. They try ignoring their passion for each other, but buried feelings resurface. Caleb must face the truth about the night of Maggie's accident, or the secret that destroyed their relationship will forever stand between them.

Critic reviews

“This novel will appeal both to boys, for Caleb’s toughness and his situation, and girls, for the steamy romance.” - ( Booklist)
“Written from Maggie's and Caleb's alternating perspectives, the conversational narratives occasionally contain vulgar language, but they give readers insights into the way the characters think, feel, and act toward one another. Teens will be compelled to continue reading as the angst is vividly played out with all its raw passion, desire, tension, trust, loss, and gain. Maggie and Caleb are great characters, and the supporting cast provides a much-needed backdrop of support and guidance. Maturity and responsibility for one's actions are also important themes. Elkeles gives readers a thoroughly satisfying novel and much to think about.” - ( School Library Journal)

Nice Continuation for Book 2

Any additional comments?

Book 2 continues less than a year from where Book 1 stops. We finally get the closure we have been waiting for in Book 1, but obviously not in a bright pretty package. There are struggles and drama and everything that made Book 1 interesting. Elizabeth and Nicholas deliver stellar performances once again which help bring these two characters to life. Overall, I'm only giving a 3 star because to me this was just what I meant it to be... a cute easy to read romance novel that had no true depth in it. It was a good YA romance, but that's about it. Would I read it again? Yes, because like most YA books they are fun to just read and help you escape for a moment.
