About this listen

When her father passes away suddenly, Justine Mayer has no reason to stay in Boston. With the promise of a romance, she answers an advert for a mail-order bride and sets out for Fielder’s Union, Arkansas.

When she arrives, she discovers the man she is all set to marry isn’t waiting for her. Even worse, he may never have existed.

Taken in and sheltered by the Barnett family, she begins to rebuild her shattered life in Fielder’s Union, unsure of what the future holds. All she knows is she has found new friends, including the handsome local sheriff, Tom Barnett, who has promised to get to the bottom of her missing groom.

As Justine begins to enjoy her new life, she remains plagued by uncertainty about her future, questions about her past—and her undeniable attraction to Sheriff Barnett. Can she put her trust in this man and his promise to protect her? Or will her heart be another casualty in the Wild West?

Good book

It was a good story line and the characters were great for the time period. The ending did come to an abrupt stop though without really wrapping up everything.

Fast and Easy

For the reader (or listener) who is looking for a fast, clean read. This book is for you! The narrator did a fabulous job! It was very easy to listen to, the characters were very believable and drew me in. It has a tad bit of twist to the mystery that was enjoyable. For once a fast read didn’t seem as though the end was rushed. It fell naturally. I will most definitely be looking for this author and narrator again!

Rollicking Mail Order Bride Novella

Susannah has this unique gift of finishing a short story yet leaving the reader thirsty for more. This novella and the series is a fresh delight for this somewhat stale reviewer in a mini book slump - loved it!

Kathleen Streckers narration is sheer pleasure!

Cute novella, well narrated

This is a lovely mailorder bride suspenseful romance - honestly, it’s a bit more suspense than romance. The writing is lovely and Kathleen Strecker did a great job bringing it to life.

My only note is that i agree with someone else saying that the ending comes somewhat rushed or abrupt. All in all it’s a really good short story.

Love and Danger

Justine Mayer can't find a job in Boston that pays enough to take care of both her and her father so she decides to answer a advertisement for a mail order bride in Fielder's Union, Arkansas. She knows her father will be upset about her leaving town but he needs to learn how to take care of himself. Tragedy strikes as her father's secret life finally catches up with him.
Justine arrives in Fielder's Union looking for her husband to be only to discover nothing he ever wrote was true and that he doesn't even exist. Upon talking to the sherriff Tom Barrett she realizes that she has been duped and is not the only woman in town that this has happened to. Justine is heartbroken, humiliated and broke and accepts the offer of shelter from Tom's sister who shares a home with her mother and brother Tom.
A slow burning romance is starting between Tom and Justine which causes him to lose focus on the case of duped brides. Tom has no idea that all the answers are closer than he thinks. This book may be short but it is a clean romance that packs a punch. Kathleen Strecker did an amazing job as the narrator her voice is soft where it should be and has a hard edge where it should. I highly recommend this book.
I received this book for free upon my request but it has no bearing on my review. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.
