Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Susan Stoker comes a new story in her Delta Force Heroes series....

After years of estrangement, Mercedes Laughlin has finally reconciled with her older brother. It should be the happiest time of her life, getting to know Truck and his new wife...and it would be, if an ex wasn’t causing her trouble. Add in Truck’s boss, Colonel Colton Robinson, an amazingly distracting man whom she met under embarrassing circumstances, and Macie’s got a bit more on her plate than she can handle.

From the moment they met, Colt was fascinated by Macie, and helping her through an anxiety attack at her brother’s wedding didn’t diminish the appeal. He’d do his best to sweep her off her feet, if not for a little voice telling him to tread lightly - until a frantic phone call changes the plan. Macie’s being targeted, and Colt’s determined to keep her safe while he and her brother eliminate the threat.

Colt isn’t about to let his friend lose his sister again so soon...or miss his own chance at a happy ending with Macie before they’ve barely had a beginning.

Loved Cole and Macie

Colt and Macie are darling. They have a 10-year age gap and Macie manages an anxiety disorder (this is not a spoiler since we know this from the last book). As with all of Stoker’s kickass heroines Macie is smart and clever. Colt is attentive and perfect with Macie. The action is believable and the novel flows beautifully.

Stella Bloom is wonderful in narrating voices.

HIGHLY recommended!!

Emotional but real

Stella Bloom is by far my favorite narrator. Stella always brings the character to life. This beautiful and raw depiction of living witb severe anxiety gave all the feels. Following Macie's journey to trusting again and standing through adversity felt raw and true to living with mental health issues.
I admire how Susan Stoker shows the many facets of a strong male character including the hidden emoftions of fear, regret and grief and still showing the ability to function and lead. We all have our strenth and weakness.
This author consistently writes characters with the ability to be strong and overcome with help from their family of choice. On to the next treasure by Susan Stoker.

Was ok.

This novella started out rather well and I was really enjoying it. Then it got raunchy. I'm not innocent but it was really weird how your listening to a book that seems to have a certain style then boom raunchy. I found the book ok.

To climb like a tree

I never expected to learn such expression from a book. I was very surprised by it and did not regret an instant. e
Yes, it is a bit cliché for the overprotectiveness but sometimes, it doesn't hurt. The main lady is very fun and the narrator did a great job portraying her.
I would recommend it if you are looking for an easy story that will make you laugh or chuckle.

Can I vote ten stars, please?

Macie met Colonel Colt Robinson at Truck's wedding when he took it upon himself to help her through her anxiety attack. Colt became her anchor, the only person she felt who could help her overcome her fears, especially when she was dealing with her ex who was hell-bent on causing her trouble.

In this story of Macie Laughlin, Truck’s (Rescuing Mary) estranged sister, Susan Stoker brings focus to anxiety disorder, an illness often misdiagnosed or not given importance.

According to doctors, “anxiety attack” is not a formal, clinical term. Instead, it is one that is used by many people to describe a wide array of feelings, from feeling worried about an upcoming event to intense feelings of terror or fear “that would meet the diagnostic criteria for a panic attack.”

Most often, those suffering from anxiety disorder feel as if they are not being taken seriously. They hear words like “it’s all in your head,” “you’re just acting out,” etc. Sometimes they are told that their fears are insignificant, and that there are bigger problems than theirs. Words that, in effect, only help to pull them into a downward spiral of insecurity, self-doubt, and yes, despair.

I cannot believe the courage and talent of this author for doing her very best to shine a light on topics most often shunned by many. Yes, her work is fiction, but the issues she writes about—this time, on anxiety—are most definitely not, and I hope, dear reader, that you see what she wants you to know beyond the pages of her books. That you, dear reader, are important, that you matter, and that you, yes, you, are allowed to reach out, that there are lifelines everywhere, and all you need to do is ask.

As to Stella Bloom, Susan Stoker’s wonderful narrator—words are not enough for me to say that you, my dear, have a lifelong fan in me.

🔹Beautiful, brave, breathtaking! 6 Stars!⭐️

🔹I simply loved this book, the characters and their endearing story!!! 6 STARS BABY! One of my TOP FAVE DELTA BOOKS OF ALL TIME!

🔹Normally I start my reviews out with pros and cons, but in this case there were no cons. (preach!)

🔹Macy is am intelligent, crafty & wonderful woman, stronger than she knows. Outgoing, beautiful inside and out and waiting for love.

🔹Colt is a strong leader in the army with a very difficult job and overall great guy. Hard on the outside but tender on the inside. Also looking for love.

🔹This explosive action/ adventure/ romance starts out like base jumpin in free fall!!💥

🔹The story goes from high stakes thriller, to a nails in the dash board adventure, and flowing into an amazing dazzling romance. (gush and thank you Susan!) The opening scene is INCREDIBLE! They need to make this book in to a movie!!

🔹I was rooting for both characters and hoping they would ...fall in love....get married and have a beautiful family. These are the kind of people that should have kids because they make the best parents. I was thrilled to see their beautiful love story unfold. Just wish there was more to the ending, including a wedding ceremony and a little bit extra. Otherwise I feel this book was perfect and also one of my all-time favorites from the Delta series.

🔹Kudos Stella for PERFECT narration- as always!

🔸Namaste Stoker fans - can’t wait till the next exciting book!!
