Acerca de esta escucha

I woke from cryostasis a prisoner. My crime? I have no idea.

I was stuck with a hundred other women, all headed to who knows where. Captive in a dank, dirty cargo hold. Then, out of the darkness, came Solair.

A handsome alien. Golden skinned. Horned. The dashing captain of a pirate ship. They rescued us - he gave my people food, shelter, and promised us safety. In exchange? He took me for himself.

But the people who captured us, haven't given up. They want us back. They're powerful and will do whatever it takes to find us. The only thing stopping them? Solair.

He wants me. And what he takes...he keeps.

Contains mature themes.

I have to say, I really enjoyed this book. While there are some sexual parts, they actually serve a purpose in the story, so they didn’t feel gratuitous. Instead, they’re integrated in a way that makes sense for the narrative. The main female character can be a bit annoying at first, but she acknowledges her flaws, and as the story unfolds, you start to understand why she behaves the way she does, which leads to those “aha” moments. Overall, I liked this first book in the series, and there’s a lot of potential in exploring each new female and male character. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book.

A Purposeful Storyline with Depth: A Promising Start to the Series

Just as the other reviewers have said, I’m struggling to finish this book. The “heroine” is ungrateful and selfish, rude, and downright stupid. I really want to enjoy the story. I’m enjoying the narration for the most part and the story plot is interesting, but I don’t think I’ll ever finish this book. Maybe I’ll try book 2 to see if that woman is at all tolerable.

Awful Female Lead

The ending seemed a bit rushed with a long build up I expected to hear more of the women being wanted by the IHC. I would have like to hear a resolution, but without it the story was still enjoyable.

Great story

Usually a big fan of Athena's work, was really let down by this one. The heroine is petulant and stubborn to a fault with a need to be in control at all times. Couldn't get past her personality enough to finish the book.

Not as good as I hoped...

I appreciated the storyline and the various personalities of the woman. The narrators did a great job of capturing them. Also, I enjoyed being able to envision what it was like for everyone to adjust to life on the Queen without fighting outsiders.

Loved the Lack of too Much Drama

Well written but I would have preferred more suspense. The villains are yet even known at the end of book one’s story. Obviously the women can’t go back home but not even a clue about who is behind their frame-up. I got 3 books so I will definitely keep reading the rest of them. I do like the characters so far.

Interesting premise

It's so rare to see a fully fleshed out universe with alliances, opponents, and victims brought together in a series so well. What I've never heard of is a collection of different series that expands upon that universe, one region at a time. Not only are there multiple series within the same universe, but every series seems to lead to a larger story at play we've only been seeing bits and pieces of during each book in each series. I have a feeling I'm going to spend a lot of money buying printed copies of every book so I have the complete collection from the entire universe as it is up to this point and whatever else is published afterward.
Honestly, it's genius and had to be a TON of work to flesh out the majority of the background; the different races, planets, alliances, and all those other mundane details we don't always see on paper. I've done some of it - not this extensively - and it's a LOT of work - and I've never had to go to this extent. I imagine it took, at the least, several months to hammer everything out enough to start the first series and keep things consistent from one series to the next.
All I can say is it's damn well done.

An amazing extension of the universe
