About this listen

Steve doesn’t know who he was. He does know a lot more than he did previously, though. He’s in a country called Lamals where men are required to have children, then more often than not, go fight and die. And that’s just how it is.

Things are at least improving, though. Steve successfully put a stop to the Creep’s advance. He’d buried it under a mountain of broken wall and escaped with his life. Which eliminates one enemy. The creep and its undead.

Now, he only has to worry about bandits, the military, the country of Lamals, and other people.

With that problem nearly solved, Steve can worry about problems closer to home. After all, his only true concerns are about his farm and his family. That’s all he really needs. Everyone else are little better than a resource to be utilized.

Unfortunately, things still aren’t what they seem to be. The messages Steve left himself pointed at something beyond their contents. Now, that "something more" is about to make contact with him. On top of that, the farm is going to hit capacity eventually. Especially if one factored into it that Steve was likely going to have children at some point in the future.

Family troubles and more problems than he could expect are about to find Steve. Shooting up as if they were trees grown with his over-powered watering can.

Good thing Steve has his axe. Any problem can be solved with it...with the right application of force.

Warning: This novel contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/harem, unconventional opinions/beliefs, and a hero who is as tactful as a dog at a cat show. Listen at your own risk. This story is an adult fantasy novel.

good series

this series is the darkest of the Arand/ Darren collection . the end of this one was filled with every possible emotion. It was kind of like watching a fatal car crash.... terrible,. but you can't look away. very entertaining. Left alot of questions. just need book 3. I am big fan of the author and narrator so keep them coming

Excellent Book - Some minor issues

The book was excellent! I can't wait for the 3rd part. It builds up a lot, and paces well. This book also elicited a lot of emotions from me that I did not expect. Only two real issues: - The ending felt a little rushed, and lacked a lot of the detail that made it stick out a bit. - Overall, the VA work was exceptional, however it was a little inconsistent in a couple of places. It was most noticeable when Gwen was given a gruffer voice than usual. Keep up the great work!

BUY IT NOW!!!

Awesome book, author, and of course awesome narrator. Put them all together and you can't ask for anything better. Can't wait for the next one. I did receive a code for this book but in no means did it sway my opinion.

Another Solid Listen

Once again Andrea Pasneau delivered a great performance. I enjoyed the story in this novel a great deal. Unlike the first book, I actually felt the loss of the characters who passed away in this volume. I enjoyed the evolution of Steve's character as he dealt with the events in this volume. I am looking forward to the next volume and seeing how the story continues to progress.

Steve stops being relatable and into a sociopath.

Enjoyed the first book and the first half of the second book. But soon after Steve stops having limits or morals when dealing with others.

Enslaving thousands and cold heartedly killing most who simply annoy him. He flips out when someone does not agree to submit to him using or killing them. Goes into chapter long tirades about everyone else wanting to use and control him, even when he has not met or spoken to them. But seems no problem invading and pillaging any group of people within a day or so travel.

This book suffers from many characters from the last book being left to the wayside as the author rams a legion of new characters into the story.
The emotional investment and development in these characters pushed into the background leaves me feeling their lose through out the book.
While uninspired repetitive new characters are dumped out in a few chapters to replace 3/4 of the original characters. The way they are shoehorned into the plot leaves the reader to feel like the new student in a new school, states away from any old friends.

Overall Steve strength and abilities stop being powerful and creative, to simply stupidly overpowered. God mode cheat level enough that there is no longer any challenges he can not just walk thru and punch. The excitement and conflict level soon after is on par with my next bowel movement.

80% of the character, plotlines, world building, and pacing are brilliant. Even with all my critiquing of the writing, I enjoy what the story SHOULD be.

I feel like the author either decided to 180 the storyline arc half way thru the second book and did not have time to rewrite the book to fit the new direction. Or the author tried to edit amd condense two or more books into this one, to fit a proposed trilogy pattern the author has.

This book was fun, sexy, sad and intense at times. I look forward to book 3. There better be a book 3! I hope to see Steve change everything for the better. If not, then maybe his influence changes the way everyone see's and treats humans. Please be sure to get it in Audible quick.
