About this listen

A bicycle crashes into me one night, and the next thing I know, I’m a baby?

Getting reincarnated in another world populated by humans, demi-humans, and mythical beasts is certainly not the turn I thought my life was going to take. I especially didn’t expect to be carried off by a wolf and given into the care of a one-armed former knight. Now, I’m trying to repay him by rebuilding the family inn and healing his arm with alchemy.

But the more time passes, the more it becomes clear to me that I’m not actually human....

Needs to be an anime.

I love this performance so much that I hope these two voice actors don't stop working together! (granted I have no idea how this performance is conducted.)

Amazing

I'll admit I was predisposed to like the narrator, given she was Taiga in Toradora. But she is also fantastic in her own right here. The story is also really good. It's a very chill slice of life story at this point, since the main character is still a very young child. There are plenty of hints that it'll get more exciting in the future, but honestly I feel like I could get really into a series that was all like this book, if the narrator was this good.

My one gripe is that I could honestly do without the dad's POV chapters. Graham does a fine job. Not amazing, but fine enough that I'm not sad they have a guy to do the alternate POV. A solid 3.5-4 star performance, maybe a little higher if he was paired with somebody less talented to compare him to. Maybe in future books these sections will become more valuable, but in this one they were mostly just distracting, though. The only reason I'm not detracting a star is that they're a relatively small part of the book. If it was half and half, this would be a much less good read.

Eager to Hear Where it Goes Next

I very much enjoyed listening to this story. I wouldn't say I've got a firm grasp of the plot or anything like that yet, but the story is still in it's building phase right now. Worldbuilding, character building, and very slowly plot building. Like anyone starting life from the very beginning, the protagonist doesn't have a clear sense of direction or purpose yet, but she is discovering her talents and the aspects of this world that she's going to have to live with and deal with as she ages, so I have hopes about how this story may develope. As a standalone book, the most notable part about this first volume, I think, is the themes of trust and familial bonds. Our protagonist is not a one-dimensional character lacking personality or backstory. There's something from her past life (which I won't spoil) weighing on her that makes living with her new adopted family all the more awkward. While conversely, the secondary protagonist is dealing with having unexpectedly adopted a daughter so soon after coming home to divorce papers, his wife and real daughter having left him. This theme of both the worst and best of family and family bonds is very intriguing to me, and I look forward to seeing how that progresses in volume two. Finally as for the reading, I enjoyed it thoroughly. This is the first light novel I've listened to as an audiobook, and I'm probably a bit biasedly pleased with the result. I do think the man and the woman could have made the experience better if they didn't read the opposite gendered lines in their sections, and I would recommend that for the next volume, but I have no issues beyond that.

LOVED IT

Huge isekai fan and this is up there with some of my top favorites like “That time I got reincarnated as a slime” and if mushoko tensei wasn’t so…creepy for parts

Funny and entertaining in a very Japanese way 😄

If you like Japonese isekai and their unique sense of humor this is a great book to relax yourself

Great start for a new series!

Our little Nerd Girl is walking home at night, when she gets hit by a bicycle! Then things get worse! Growing up as a baby that remembers her past life on another world can be difficult!

A great start to a new story

I’ve been wanting light novels to have audio done for them for a while now and this is a very good start to what I hope will be many more books.

Slice of life in another world.

Nothing crazy happens, just a simple story for the most part, about the main character growing up in a new world with most of her memories and can use alchemy.

Entertaining

A good isekai story. The characters are interesting and the voice actors do a great job at narrating. I’m excited to start the next book!

light hearted

I enjoyed it. It's a decent start for a new series
The The 2nd narrator was pretty much useless. He's not bad. If they would have just kept the female Narrator It would be better. Instead of switching off and on. Between the two he could have just done the male voices and she could do the female voices that would be great too. but no He reads a portion of the book she reads the portion of the book It's quite annoying. It's still a good book.
