Publisher's summary

The next audiobook in the explosive new thriller series by former special operations sniper and New York Times best-selling author of The Reaper.

A convoy of cars carrying several family members of the President’s cabinet to Camp David for “Family Day” is ambushed, killing and wounding wives, husbands, and children.

Immediately in the aftermath, Vick Harwood watches a Facebook live feed of his former ranger buddy Sammie Samuelson’s apparent suicide and confession in his Thurmont, Maryland apartment, just one mile from Camp David. Remnants of a firefight are in the background: sniper rifle, rocket launchers, and ammunition. Simultaneously, an intruder breaks into Harwood’s house.

Harwood arrives in Thurman to investigate the suicide and, with the help of attractive FBI agent Valerie Hinojosa, traces evidence left by Samuelson to a fiendish plot involving transnational terrorists and domestic political opponents.

Meanwhile, the president wants retribution, and will stop at nothing to get it. Harwood joins Team Valid, whose mission is to kill the family members of terrorists and eliminate their seed from the earth. Team Valid, consisting of Hinojosa, Harwood, a Navy SEAL sniper, and a Marine Force Recon sniper, travels to Crimea, Iran, and Azerbaijan before realizing the mission is not what it seems. Harwood struggles to balance his orders with his sense of right and wrong - without losing his life in the process. As Samuelson is implicated in the Camp David ambush, it is a race to protect his remaining family and uncover the sinister plot in the homeland.

A much stronger book than the first one!!!

This book was worth a listen. The story was not bad , but I liked seeing a new perspective. The main several main characters being black and a woman as the bad guy was a refreshing change. it had some issues but worth a read.

Good book

I liked the book. Liberal minded people would hate the book. Probably hit close to home with them.
Can we say Hilary Clinton like character.

excellent thriller

This is the new Tom Clancy series I feel. Very nice to have a guy know what he's talking about when writing for entertainment.

not a continuation of the war stories

if you are looking for a continuatio of the Reaper's stories of Iraq and Afghanistan this is not the book for you. Irving has turned his attention to writting fictions based on the skills of being a sniper. I initially was going to return the purchase for credit, but was intrigued by Itving's writing style. overall it was a very good book.

Vick Hardwood is Captain America’s hero & role model

Finally a main character that looks like me that is an all around bad machine with an impeccable moral compass. Vick Hardwood is the soldier, hero, protagonist that represents me.

Nicholas Irving is a top tier author that develops his characters, stories, and incorporates today’s technology and societal ills of America. His story pacing is perfect! Never a dull moment and the drama is just right. At times a tear can be extracted as I’m listening to some of the events and situations of the characters.

Mr. Irving please keep the stories coming!

Oh, the narrator was excellent too. His accent for a couple of the characters made me chuckle, especially broken nose man.

Not only a strong black man with strong morals, mental toughness and discipline, all of the women were strong capable women, from the teenager to the antagonist.

Mad props to the author and narrator.

Good, not great

All of his non fiction books were really good. His first in this series was solid, this one fell off some. This series is no jack Carr but it is worth the time
