About this listen

Something wicked this way comes.…

Suddenly, being bitten by a werewolf is the least of Joanne Walker's problems.

Her personal life in turmoil, her job as a cop over, she's been called to Ireland by the magic within her. And though Joanne's skills have grown by leaps and bounds, Ireland's magic is old and very powerful.…

In fact, this is a case of unfinished business. Because the woman Joanne has come to Ireland to rescue is the woman who sacrificed everything for Joanne - the woman who died a year ago. Now, through a slip in time, she's in thrall to a dark power and Joanne must battle darkness, time, and the gods themselves to save her.

Now this is a prime example of a whiner!

Don't let the whining deter you from this book because as it happens it was a major part of the heroine's development and growth. Although it will get on your nerves, at least it did mine anyway. I wish that the book had started with the mother's battle against evil and the mother-daughter relationship. I felt like something was missing there. This book does not have a romantic relationship in it, although one is eluded to. It's basically about a young woman struggling to find herself, realize her strengths, and having the courage to forge deeper relationships with those around her, while she fights the forces of darkness. There was plenty of fighting and I was able to enjoy the book.

This book was sooooo worth the 2 credits!

This was a wonderful story told with great skill. I have loved the heroine throughout all the previous books and especially this one. “Raven Calls” is a great story that was written with incredible intensity and depth. It’s a totally rich experience. I hated for it to end!

set in Ireland

Slightly harder to follow due to its being in a locale I know little about. Much time travel. Or is it really time travel? Might be mind travel. Gary is more involved in the proceedings. I really like this series.

fix narration

I can't stand the pauses of this narrator. However, buy speeding up to about 1.2 I can finally enjoy this interesting and entertaining book series.

Holy Crap, so much is going on in this book

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I actually almost did listen to this book in one sitting, I went for a quick morning walk and 8 miles later, I was in downtown Denver. (The walk back was terrible!) There is so much that happens in this book I just got sucked in. I was really glad I went back and skimmed through the other books in the series before listening to this one though, otherwise I would have been a little lost! This is one I will definitely have to listen to again to pick up everything that happened.

Thank you <3

Just when you thought Joanne and Morrison were never going to get it together, it happens. It was totally understated and beautiful.

Fast paced exciting ride through Irish Mythology!

Would you consider the audio edition of Raven Calls to be better than the print version?

I do consider this audio better then print for this book. The whole series stands out more for me since I traded in my print for the audio.

Just fun!

I have enjoyed this series from the beginning and CE Murphy doesn't disappoint with the most recent installment. I really appreciate how Jo has changed and matured from book to book. Unlike so many of the heroines in this genre, Jo fumbles around, srcews up, faces the consequences of her decisions and learns from them. Very refreshing!

Gabra Zackman does a great job conveying the humor and sarcasm inherent in the dialog.

Looking forward to seeing where this series goes from here.
