Story
Fat Joe is a hip-hop legend, but this is not a tale of celebrity; it is the story of Joseph Cartagena, a kid who came of age in the South Bronx during its darkest years of drugs, violence, and abandonment, and how he navigated that traumatizing landscape until he found—through art, friendship, luck, and will—a rocky path to a different life. This memoir, written in Joe’s own intensely compelling voice, moves with the momentum of pulp fiction, but underneath the tragicomedy and riveting tales of the streets and the industry is a thought-provoking story about a generation of survivors.

Publisher's summary
Can parents create and foster passion in their children?
Ask Jackie Gouché, the author of Raising Kings, who inherited the gift of music from her grandmother and mother, and she has passed the gift down to the fourth generation, her sons. Jackie and her husband, Ronald, overcame seemingly insurmountable challenges, including addiction, incarceration, and seven years as a single mom, while raising her kings. The gift of music became her strength, and she used that strength to nurture and develop that same gift in her three kings. These three young, Grammy-nominated artists are taking the music industry by storm. Listeners will discover that Raising Kings is not a how-to book on parenting but simply the story of Jackie Gouché's experience in Raising Kings.

Absolutely captivating
Jackie captivated my attention from the instant the book began! She is honestly the most enthusiastic narrator that I have had the pleasure of listening to! I especially loved it when her sons joined in to share their voices and unique point of view. I could listen to a series of her books. What incredible talent!

Touching!!! Excellently written!
After seeing SiR in concert the day this wonderful woman passed, an additional token of support to the tribe was purchasing this book! To know the depths of her struggles and witness the triumphs of her life has been an assurance of true faith!!! I felt connected to her with each page and we’ve never met! I feel inspired as a person and a parent to keep MOVING FORWARD!! Her sons were extremely blessed beyond measure that she was their mom.
