About this listen

It starts when you're always afraid.

Seven Corporations run the former United States on the codes of conduct their founders set down. You're signed into a Corporate contract the day you're born. And the fear of dropping in the Citizen Standing Scores keeps people in line. What choice is there?

The Democratic State Force has fought for the return of democracy for decades, but they need the restless population of America to fight beside them if they're going to stand a chance. But when your Score goes down, so does your life.

It's time for a new strategy: Take out the Citizen Standing Score system. And it's time for the unit with the highest mission success rate, the best coder, and the craziest ideas in the Force to head the attempt. Base 1407 just got the call.

Life's a bitch. She raises the stakes when you least expect it. Play your cards as best you can.

Another high-octane Wild Cards adventure

Raise the Stakes, indeed! This is another high-octane adventure for the Wild Cards. After they so successfully completed the last mission, posting the Corporations' nasty deeds, the higher-ups decide to up the ante by targeting the citizen standards system, and they want the Wild Cards to lead the multi-base charge. More risk, danger, and deception; still the same level of snark and humor. This one is a bit harsher than the last, and the reader/listener is reminded that this is a dystopian society. People die this time around, likely some you have come to love. On the bright side, Aidan gets one of his surgeries, and further cements his relationship with Kevin. Still there are still some rough spots, and secrets remain. Can their love prevail? There are old faces and some new ones. I especially liked seeing Tweak (spelling?) opening up (some) and becoming a more cemented part of the family, and seeing her and Kevin more tolerant of each other. I am so loving this story, and now I am on to book 4.

The narration continues to be excellent. Kirt Graves does such a fantastic job with the characters and their emotions. He really brings the drama and suspense, and all the feelings, happy and not.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

LOVE this series!!!

After listening to the first 3 books I can confirm that this series is SO GOOD! The character development is perfect and I feel attached to many of them. Each character has their own spunk that comes with the dystopian responsibilities of a post democratic country. I cannot wait to listen to the rest of the books. I even went to the author’s website to learn more (which I have never done before) and saw the drawings of each character. Let me tell you the drawings were spot on with my imagination which is wild 😜. I like that the spicy scenes are unique and interesting rather than the run of the mill smut. I hope one day we are spoiled with an Aces High, Jokers Wild TV show!!

solid continuation

This series is so solid, and book 3 did not disappoint! I love getting more insight into Tweak.
