About this listen

Raining Pitchforks is dedicated To All Children Who Go To Bed Tonight Afraid. This is a book about my experience growing up in an erratic, dangerous and unstable world. It begins when I was seven and ends at age 17; a time frame that encompasses a 10 year span of events with a disastrous ending. Along the way I encounter several important relatives and friends who help and hurt. This remarkable, fast moving story is about courage, optimism and loss. Our American family was changed for generations by World War II. What is now called PTSD took a toll on all of us. It is a true story but some details are changed due to privacy. I hope you will find my story interesting. I also hope that you will take home my underlying message that you should never give up. No matter how harsh your life is difficulties can be overcome. It is filled with a message of optimism that someone else in a similar situation will find encouragement to take hold of their lives and move forward. After I left the ‘embrace’ of my Kansas family, my life changed completely. I found a new family in friends and went on to enjoy myriad pleasurable times and a full, complete life. I believe the experiences from my childhood – both bad and good – gave me the strength and determination to go forth into the world and build the wonderful life I currently enjoy. I am fine now…I just wanted you to know this before you read. Child Abuse Drama & Plays Dysfunctional Families United States Inspiring

It will break your heart and make you cry.

As I understand it there is a sequel coming out soon. I’m not sure if I will read it. This is the story of some of the most despicable white trash people I’ve ever been exposed to. Rampant violent abuse that’s excused by saying “he’s a veteran” BS! Rampant child sexual abuse that’s excused by blaming the victim. A brothel, organized crime, family violence, children abandoned. I’d be horrified to admit I knew these people much less be a family member. I feel so sorry for the child/young women who had to live through all this. Retribution will be made for their innocence. Not for the faint of heart, the author doesn’t sugarcoat her childhood memories and I pray she has healed from her trauma.

I wish this author had an editor? Or perhaps more patience to complete the book….

Let completely unfinished. Great storyline but lack of structure and you’re left with no conclusions or explanations. It’s like, the author was too excited about publishing to wait and make it right. It says there’s a sequel but I wouldn’t listen again to be so caught off guard by a lack of ending. This felt like listening to a rough draft?
