Acerca de esta escucha

“A pure delight . . . Romantic, poignant, and spellbinding.”— REBECCA ROSS, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Divine Rivals

“Fiercely feminist and deeply romantic, Psyche and Eros has the allure of an old fable and the epic quality of ancient myth, tinged with a provocative, modern wit. Passionate and deftly-told.” — AVA REID, #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Study in Drowning and The Wolf and the Woodsman

Has the god of love finally met his match?

Prepare to fall for this glorious reimagining of Greek mythology about a god struck by his own cursed arrow and the mortal woman who teaches him what love truly means

Psyche, princess of Mycenae, was born with a prophecy that she will one day conquer a great monster. Rejecting her royal duties, Psyche spends her youth mastering blade and bow, preparing for her destiny. Tales of her beauty and rebellious nature reach even the goddess Aphrodite, who decides to teach Psyche a lesson.

Aphrodite commands Eros, the god of desire, to deliver a cruel love curse. After eons watching humanity misuse his gifts, the last thing Eros wants is to become involved in the chaos of the mortal world. But when he accidentally pricks himself with the arrow intended for Psyche, Eros finds himself doomed to yearn for a woman who will be torn from him the moment their eyes meet.

Thrown together by fate, headstrong Psyche and world-weary Eros will face challenges greater than they could have ever imagined. As the Trojan War begins and divine powers try to keep them apart, the pair must determine: could this be true love, or is that only a myth?

A joyous and subversive tale of gods, monsters, and the human heart and soul, Psyche and Eros dazzles the senses while exploring notions of trust, sacrifice, and what it truly means to be a hero. With unforgettably vivid characters, spellbinding prose, and delicious tension, Luna McNamara has crafted a shimmering and propulsive debut novel about a love so strong it defies the will of Olympus.

“A riotous adventure . . . McNamara strikes the perfect note of irreverent humor and furious emotion in this fabulous novel. An absolute joy!”— JENNIFER SAINT, bestselling author of Ariadne

"An enthralling tale of adventure, romance, and star-crossed lovers.” — SUE LYNN TAN, bestselling author of Daughter of the Moon Goddess

so much fun bundled into one book. Myths nicely flowing into old remembered fairy tales were with great surprise for me. The readers were seamless. Female and male voices worked really well together. I loved it all. Zepherus, Atalanta, Hecate, Demeter, Gaia, Iphigenia, Clytemnestra and more. So very enjoyable.

A lovely mashup of myth/fairy tale/storytelling.

I truly enjoyed this re-imagining of the story of Psyche and Eros. The narrators were very pleasant to listen to and the story itself was compelling!! Very little spice, but It doesn’t need it; the plot keeps you hooked!

A lovely tale

A great rendition of the story. I was pleasantly impressed with the broad range of experiences however there were a few moments that seemed too easy. It’s a sweet story after all!

Have not listened to any Greek mythology in a while and thought I needed a refresher. I found a well written easy to listen to captivating story with great complex characters.

Old story stands up

I thought the story stayed close to the myth that I knew but was unique and let me understand even more information in an enjoyable fashion. I thought Eros was well-rounded character and psyche developed right along with him. I really enjoyed the narrator and the way they conveyed the different gods and goddesses.

I loved this version

I wasn't able to immerse myself completely as I had with Madeleine Miller's books but it was still and interesting story regardless. The voice actor for Eros was divine.

The story of Eros and Psyche has always been my favorite Greek myth! The author has crafted a wonderful version of the story! I like that she gave Psyche an interesting twist by having her receive what would have been a Prince’s education and also having her trained by another female Greek hero. I enjoyed how she approaches Eros by acknowledging him as a primordial god and his own character instead of merely Aphrodite’s son, though she introduces an interesting idea by calling him the goddess’ adopted son. And maybe there’s some truth in the idea since in mythology Eros went from predating Aphrodite to being her child, maybe a way to continue acknowledging an old god while also reducing him by a later generation much like the Titans. I like the interactions between the character’s both the light hearted and serious, both the author and the narrators make each one feel heart felt. It was gratifying to find an author who uses the Greek names for the gods and uses the Roman versions when they are using an alternate name! I really like that she wrote Eros as a cat person! And I enjoyed that she takes the concepts of being a great hero or a great lover and blends them!

Great retelling!

Story drew me in from the beggining- I do not usually want to waste 11 hours with a tired old Greek myth. But, I found myself finding reasons to put my airpods in and fall into the story. If you want a book that you will ENJOY- this is it. (oh and my 19 yo son and 17 yo daugther both liked too)

Easy to Follow, easy to listen to all day.
