Well researched and educational, but complex material. The author and narrator does a wonderful job.

This is a pleasure to listen to because not only is the author an engaging and entertaining reader but also, in addition to really knowing her stuff, she has brought freshness, thought, care and wit to a beloved set of stories.

Wow!

What an achievement! A Thousand Ships and Pandora’s Jar are a tremendous one-two punch to the face of mostly male-dominated retellings of Greek tales. And the far-reaching scope of the analysis of the tales and retellings Natalie Haynes provides is astonishing.

Enlightening and entertaining!

I wish Ms. Haynes wrote and read all the non-fiction books on this site. And I imagine she'd do remarkably at fiction, as well. Seriously, anyone with an interest in Greek mythology needs to read this. As does every Greek male, as most could benefit from some perspective.

Dr Haynes fit the original Greek meanings seamlessly into the stories.

Although I agree with her feminist bent, after awhile it becomes a little bit of a scree. Most ancient women were treated poorly, it’s a given, glad to hear another voice raised in protest-even if it is 2500 years later….
