About this listen

A village is destroyed. A vengeance is born. And one man blazes a trail to hell and back to pay the devils their due - in bullets and blood. They call him Preacher....

Johnstone Country. Fight fire with fire.

It starts as a happy reunion between Preacher and his fellow trappers in a peaceful Indian village. But it ends swiftly in death and destruction when a rival tribe attacks the village, slaughters some of Preacher’s Crow and mountain man friends, and carries off the women and children as prisoners. Preacher was off hunting when it happened. Now he’s teaming up with old friend Lorenzo and half-breed Tall Dog to get the prisoners back - and get revenge. But the road to justice is paved with some very dark omens. And the trail leads to the baddest place on God’s good earth: the bubbling quicksand pits, hot springs, and geysers of the Wyoming wild country known as Colter’s Hell....

Here - where earthquakes shake the land and no man is safe - Preacher and his friends must wage a three-man war against one of the fiercest tribes this side of the devil’s inferno. And once the shooting starts, it’s going to get a hell of a lot hotter....

Oh, and there’s also a question of 100 missing rifles....

Live free. Listen hard.

Always Good

William Johnstone and J. A Johnstone definitely write some good westerns. We like Jack Garrett as a narrator but we think J Rodney Turner is better at reading stories about Preacher.

Preacher facing two devils in a volcanic valley.

I liked the characters, the double plot, the journey and the villains. Good ole cowboy story.

Struggled but glad I finished

Eye won't ruin it but the Pun in this review is best part of the story. Not their best story but still a great read.

Not your fathers story

This is in the mountain man series, with Preacher in the lead role, but it is not written very well. To much minor detail and the language doesn’t seem to fit. Example, the Indian says that the number of braves are “thin” which he really means, they don’t have many left. This word “thin” probably won’t be used by someone new to that language.

Also, the author seems to get stuck in detailing every minor detail at the least opportune time. Maybe they are trying to fill pages.

There are many other books in this series we’ll worth the listen, but not this title.

Preacher inferno, this story line is way off compared to the rest of the series!

Very disappointed I felt it never resembled any of Preachers adventures, it was flat with no excitement throughout the whole book . I felt that it was Mediocre at best very disappointed!
