Acerca de esta escucha

Granny Viper is a "people finder," a searcher for lost souls along the roads of a forbidding wasteland. Her latest mission: the safe return of a young woman named Tae, kidnapped eight years ago by vampire nobility and held in Castle Gradinia on the Frontier's far border. But rescuing Tae is only half the battle—Viper knows she and the girl can't cross the formidable expanse to the town of Barnabas alone. After making the fatal mistake of hiring the mercenary Bullow Brothers to help her, Granny turns to the legendary Vampire Hunter D for salvation. As they traverse the bleak desert between the Inner and Outer Frontier, the two women and D find themselves in a race for their lives. And they soon discover how cruel the desert is—and how very ruthless the Bullow Brothers are...

Performed by Scott McCormick, David Cui Cui, Lily Beacon, Joey Sourlis, Karenna Foley, Robb Moreira, Gabriel Rayner, Terence Aselford, Michael John Casey, Earl Fisher, Christopher Williams and Matthew Pauli.

so book six is where the series starts getting better and better and only going up for the most part. I would argue the first one is a great ground point while the second volume is the best until book 6, where the series just progressively gets better. I got to hand it to graphic audio cuz they did a fantastic job. can't wait for the next book!!!

keeps getting better and better!

There is one issue, highly problematic. The person voicing D makes D sound emotional, normal and downright silly. The animated films both perfectly capture the D sound. This seems like no effort. It rips you from the story everytime he speaks as D. They need to find someone else because this is awful.

not done yet but read all the books

I have been a fan of the series since the early 90s. I'm glad that this the book series finally getting some love.

Review From Long Time Fan

I haven't finished the story yet, but the quality of this is much better than the prior 5 installments. I enjoyed the last 5 regardless, some were better then others on production but all were relatively close in how the book was read and the quality. This is a big step up from those in my opinion, voice acting has gotten better as well. kudos to the crew that's been putting these together.

Quality getting better.

It seems like the writing gets better and better . Volume 5 stuff of dreams is my favorite but this is right there knocking.

Another remarkable story

Love the voice acting and soundtrack always come back to these volumes. Definitely worth a listen

Great

The frontier’s damsel in distress is about 17 to 18, D’s allies for short period then to turn against each other, and ending is no real resolution and the whole damn thing is a waste of time. I did like the journey through the desert and interactions between characters but FFS ending is so blah. Author should of had an editor to make these books better development

Author uses same template as other novels

The story is amazing but the main voice is awful at his job and the solo is effects are cheesy and ruin the experience.

DROP THE SOUND EFFECTS

So, I've been binging VHD for the last week or so, listening to the first 5 books from Tantor Audio (the unabridged versions here) and enjoyed them. They are pulp novels, they follow a form and cadance that doesn't really change, but they are still enjoyable.
This was the first dramatized "Graphic Audio" version and.... i prefer the standard naration. The character actors aren't bad, though D sounds too lively, if that makes sense. But the biggest issue is the narrator. He sounds drunk at times. There is a point at the beginning of Chapter 5 where he stumbles through the word "perpendicularly." He mumbles and slurs through a few places, and from the opening lines to the last, I was missing the other version. Disapointing.

pass on the dramatization
