Acerca de esta escucha

In the masterful follow-up to the runaway hit All the Missing Girls - "think: Luckiest Girl Alive, The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl" (TheSkimm) - a journalist sets out to find a missing friend, a friend who may never have existed at all.

Confronted by a restraining order and the threat of a lawsuit, failed journalist Leah Stevens needs to get out of Boston when she runs into an old friend, Emmy Grey, who has just left a troubled relationship. Emmy proposes they move to rural Pennsylvania, where Leah can get a teaching position and both women can start again. But their new start is threatened when a woman with an eerie resemblance to Leah is assaulted by the lake, and Emmy disappears days later.

Determined to find Emmy, Leah cooperates with Kyle Donovan, a handsome young police officer on the case. As they investigate her friend's life for clues, Leah begins to wonder: did she ever really know Emmy at all? With no friends, family, or digital footprint, the police begin to suspect that there is no Emmy Grey. Soon Leah's credibility is at stake, and she is forced to revisit her past: the article that ruined her career. To save herself, Leah must uncover the truth about Emmy Grey - and, along the way, confront her old demons, find out who she can really trust, and clear her own name.

Everyone in this rural Pennsylvanian town has something to hide - including Leah herself. How do you uncover the truth when you are busy hiding your own?

Reseñas de la Crítica

"YA author Miranda, who moved into the adult market with All the Missing Girls, proves she isn't a one-hit wonder with this exciting thriller. Its twisty tale with many layers - a little romance, great writing, and an awesome story line - will keep psychological suspense fans turning the pages." ( Library Journal)
"Solid plot...an entertaining read." ( Kirkus Reviews)

The middle of the book dragged on. And the ending came and went too fast. It left me with unanswered questions and wanting to know more about the backstory more than actual story itself.

Unfinished

I finished this book in less than 1 day driving back and forth on a road trip. Amazing book and I would highly recommend it!

Amazing book!!

The description said it was the follow up to All the Missing Girls. I suppose I thought that meant a sequel. The two stories are completely different.

There were some interesting twists and some things that I didn’t expect. I often felt the main character, Leah, was her own worst enemy. The development of the story explains that some but she also just seemed foolish for someone smart.

There were parts where I needed to go back and listen a few more times because my mind wandered. I suppose that is an indication that it was rather boring at those times. However, I couldn’t stop listening today.

So well written. Drawing you in at the beginning keeping you engaged through the middle and an essence of climaxing scenes through 3/4 of this book! It's one of those books that's had to put down! I'm a new fan of this author!!

I loved it!

It was just ok, I had to move it to double speed in the middle but it was interesting enough to finish

Meh

The Third audio I’ve listened to from Megan Miranda… Can’t put it down! Could t stop listening. Excellent as were the others!

Excellent

Megan Miranda narrative jumping between different points in time makes her story a little hard to follow at the beginning; as chapters come along, the story opens up and allow us to understand the world around Leah; her past and present, showing us the reality or the things we consider true, are based on choices we make and the roles we decide to assign to everyone in our lives!
I couldn’t stop listening to it until the end, and I’m glad that I did!!!

Perfect Stranger, interesting reading!

I think I found a new favorite author and narrator. This boy ok is FULL of twists and turns that actually all come together. But you better pay attention if you will miss something important. Great characters and I was left scratching my head a few times in bewilderment. The narrator has a knack for this genre and is excellent. My second Megan Miranda book and I’m hooked! Crime, drama, mystery

Wow! You’d better pay attention!

There is so much going on together in this story. Between flashbacks and characters who are barely fleshed out, it's hard to remember who goes where and what they did. It was only a compelling listen in that I hoped the more I heard, the more I'd understand. Can't say I'd recommend.

Trying Really Hard to be "Girl on the Train"

The Perfect Stranger is a fast-paced thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. Meg Miranda knows how to keep her audience engaged.

That being said, The Perfect Stranger both the story and the Audio book was not without its flaws. There are a lot of twists and turns that kept me going, but some of the action was a bit repetitive. The protagonist's relationship with the lead investigator borders on Harlequin territory, since he would not be allowed to have a relationship with a potential witness. Lastly, the reader is component, but if you listen to a lot of audiobooks, she is a bit limited in her range-many of the characters sound the same. That being said, this was an enjoyable, if not a bit repetitive work. You will not be bored.

Addictive but a bit disappointing
