After two stressful months, Amber Blackwood is determined to have a few weeks of peace before the Here and Meow Festival descends on her small town of Edgehill, Oregon. That peace doesn’t last long.

When she and the committee attend a meeting at the mayor’s house, Amber is pulled aside by the mayor’s daughter Chloe, who Amber babysat for in high school. The mayor has forbidden Chloe from dating, but she recently met an older boy through a chat app and is desperate to meet him. Amber advises Chloe to tell her father about the boy.

Hours later, Mayor Deidrick frantically puts in a call to Amber. Chloe, the always well-behaved teenager, seems to have snuck out her bedroom window, and now, she’s not answering his calls.

When Amber helps search the town for the girl, she happens upon Chloe’s abandoned car. Her driver’s side door is open, and while her purse is inside, her phone is gone. Working alongside Chief Brown, Amber uses her magic to figure out what might have happened to Chloe.

The more they dig, the more they unearth secrets from the seemingly affable mayor’s past. The charismatic politician has both a hair-trigger temper and a suspicious death linked to his past.

As if the mayor’s increasingly strange behavior isn’t bad enough, Amber and the chief also contend with an out-of-town private investigator, nosy reporter Connor Declan, and an even nosier population of Edgehill residents who start to question why Amber and the chief are spending so much time together.

Undaunted by these obstacles, Amber races against the clock to help ensure Chloe doesn’t become another statistic - assuming the mayor doesn’t stop her first.

Fast paced witchy cozy mystery...:)

It's book three in the series and although you may read/listen to it as a standalone (there are enough references and explanations for us to know who is who and what Amber talks about when remembering past events) it's definitely a treat to know the previous two books as well...

This time Amber has to solve a kidnapping case - and it turns out to be quite a complex investigation, with lots of twists, secrets coming out and surprises on the way to the happy solution. The plot is fast, characters not so black and white, with a huge gala that everyone is obsessed with in the background...
I like Amber a lot in this part - she's emotionally connected to the victim and her loyalty shows; she also uses her magic for all the right reasons and doesn't overuse it just for show :)

Narration by Ms Villarreal is as good as with the previous two books, I'd only like her to read a bit faster... It's 4.5 starts for her interpretatons of this instalment of the series :)

OH, MY, WAY TO LEAVE ME HANGING!

I LOVE THIS SERIES, AND EACH BOOK IS BETTER THAN THE ONE BEFORE. THIS WAS A GREAT STORYLINE, AND I AM SO EXCITED BY THE CHARACTER/RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENTS. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK.

I really enjoyed this series. The first 2 books were really good. The last book was great until the end. it was a bit underwhelming. I thought it would a little more dramatic. I would still listen to it again. My only gripe that I noticed from both books 2 and 3 was the extremely long pauses between chapters. Other than that, it was a very good series.

Great Story, narrator was off this time

Not sure what happened with the narrator, but it seemed like every 5 minutes she had had to go back and re-record part of the narration. Definitely too many times to count, and so often that it pulled me out of the story. I loved the story, and have fallen in love with the author's characters. But the narrator was really off this time. I hope she figures out whatever her problem is and fixes it.

I love this series. I really enjoyed the book. I like how Amber helps the police.

I love the mysteries in these books, along with the interactions of the commmunity in this town!
Such a good series, and not so patiently waiting for more.

Each book just gets better and better

Cheers for Melissa Erin Jackson! While I enjoyed the first book in this series, I’m loving the world and depth of characters Melissa is building in each book. These stories are rich and keep me interested and I loving the plot twists and surprises. I’m looking forward to book four!

Fantastic mystery

This is another fantastic mystery in the Pawsitively series written by Melissa Erin Jackson. I am addicted to this series with all of its quirky citizens and entertaining storylines. I highly recommend this book and series. I received this book at my request for free and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review here of my own volition.

I can't get enough of amber and her friends! every chance I got I was listening to these books! I love them! I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes witchy cozy mysteries!
