About this listen

This book contains proven steps and strategies for how to patent your invention so that only you can benefit from it. Patent law can be complicated and this book attempts to make it simple enough for laymen to understand so that they'll know everything they need to be able to file a patent. In addition, the information in this book can help increase the chances that your application for a patent is approved. Keep in mind that the US Patent and Trademark Office receives an average of 500,000 patent applications a year.

General overview of the process.

I was hoping for more clarity into the strategic thinking of writing a non provisional application. I'm writing 3 of my own and there isn't much help that way.

For someone new to the patent process, this is a good starting point. The Nolo patent books are a another place to continue your patent training.

Only useful if you don't have a clue about patents

This is more like a short article than a book. Although useful if you don't have a clue about the process of patent filling, it still should include more details and examples.

Not very informative

The information in this book can easily be found on the internet by spending about 20 minutes searching.

Concentrated Overview. Helps greatly for beginners

Would you consider the audio edition of Patent Manual to be better than the print version?

It saves me time to have to google to find info on basic patent info.

Personally, it's a bit regrettable, because it didn't include my type of invention: piano education invention which can teach students who couldn't be taught before like the handicapped, or the toddlers and etc.. I know my books can be copyrighted but what about the methods that i teach to other teachers?? How can I protect my invention from other users of the methods without my permission? The writer didn't include my kind of invention.

What other book might you compare Patent Manual to and why?

If anyone can recommend me books or any material on Patent law and copyrights for piano learning techniques, that would help me so much.

What does George Utley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voice works for this book. He has a very very low voice.

Any additional comments?

How does one do patent searches on their own? It doesn't include my type of invention: piano education invention which can teach students who couldn't be taught before. I know my books can be copyrighted but what about the methods?? The writer didn't include my kind of invention.

not a pantent manual

A few helpful hints but . "A Pantent Manual" title is a bit of a stretch.

Not enough

I was hoping for more details as to how to write my own provisional, or what should be used to specifically. This was more of an overview of what's going to go in it and what needs to happen. I could have learned this easily and for free off of a quick Google search.

Waste of money and time

All very basic information, very misleading IMO. All info can be found easily online. This isn't even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to writing your own patent. I didn't learn one single new thing about patents.
