Every culture on earth has its tales of the paranormal. While many contain stories of ghosts and supernatural events, the existence of paranormal creatures is an idea which has spread to almost every culture. With such a vast array of differences in the world of flora and fauna, the myriad of potentially mystical creatures created by our ancestors has passed down to us. Now, we find ourselves familiar with everything from werewolves to the Tasmanian tiger. Some of these animals are flights of fancy; others are real species which have been driven to extinction. But all over the world, you will find people who are certain that they continue to exist.
In this book, we will be traveling the world and search for the truth behind some of the planet's strangest, deadliest, and most fascinating paranormal creatures. In fact, there is a whole branch of science dedicated to the pursuit. It is named cryptozoology. The goal of cryptozoology is to peel back the curtain and discover the truth about the myths, legends, stories, and even hoaxes that exist around the world. For anyone intrigued by the natural world and the human psyche, these creatures provide a captivating history of human culture and how it differs across the planet.
From the Loch Ness Monster to the giant anaconda, there have always been rumors of something strange and deadly lurking beneath the surface of our knowledge of the natural world. Could it be possible that we have missed some of the world's strangest creatures despite them existing right in front of us? Are all of the stories simply myths and elaborate hoaxes? Is there a grain of truth to even the most outlandish stories? Download now to discover the reality behind some of the planet's strangest paranormal creatures.

The selfless exploits of our heroic dogs are writ indelibly in our nation's heritage and identity.

America's Great Plains once possessed one of the grandest wildlife spectacles of the world, equaled only by such places as the Serengeti, the Masai Mara, or the veld of South Africa. Pronghorn antelope, gray wolves, bison, coyotes, wild horses, and grizzly bears: less than 200 years ago these creatures existed in such abundance that John James Audubon was moved to write "it is impossible to describe or even conceive the vast multitudes of these animals".

Historia
In 1908, near Folsom, New Mexico, a cowboy discovered the remains of a herd of extinct giant bison. By examining flint points embedded in the bones, archeologists later determined that a band of humans had killed and butchered the animals 12,450 years ago. This discovery vastly expanded America's known human history but also revealed the long-standing danger Homo sapiens presented to the continent's evolutionary richness. Distinguished scholar Dan Flores's ambitious history chronicles the epoch in which humans and animals have coexisted in the "wild new world" of North America.

The Galapagos were once known to the sailors and pirates who encountered them as Las Encantadas: the enchanted islands, home to exotic creatures and dramatic volcanic scenery. In The Galapagos, science writer Henry Nicholls offers a lively natural and human history of the archipelago, charting its evolution from deserted wilderness to scientific resource (made famous by Charles Darwin) and global ecotourism hot spot.

Something unimaginable occurred from 1764 to 1767 in the remote highlands of south-central France. For three years, a real-life monster, or monsters, ravaged the region, slaughtering by some accounts more than 100 people, mostly women and children, and inflicting severe injuries upon many others.

Historia
America's Great Plains once possessed one of the grandest wildlife spectacles of the world, equaled only by such places as the Serengeti, the Masai Mara, or the veld of South Africa. Pronghorn antelope, gray wolves, bison, coyotes, wild horses, and grizzly bears: less than 200 years ago these creatures existed in such abundance that John James Audubon was moved to write "it is impossible to describe or even conceive the vast multitudes of these animals".

That the dog evolved from the wolf is an accepted fact of evolution and history, but the question of how wolf became dog has remained a mystery, obscured by myth and legend. How the Dog Became the Dog posits that dog was an evolutionary inevitability in the nature of the wolf and its human soul mate. The natural temperament and social structure of humans and wolves are so similar that as soon as they met on the trail they recognized themselves in each other.

Over the past 20 years, paleontologists have made tremendous fossil discoveries, including fossils that mark the growth of whales, manatees, and seals from land mammals and the origins of elephants, horses, and rhinos. Today there exists an amazing diversity of fossil humans, suggesting we walked upright long before we acquired large brains, and new evidence from molecules that enable scientists to decipher the tree of life as never before.

The monumental statues of Easter Island, both so magisterial and so forlorn, gazing out in their imposing rows over the island’s barren landscape, have been the source of great mystery ever since the island was first discovered by Europeans on Easter Sunday 1722. How could the ancient people who inhabited this tiny speck of land, the most remote in the vast expanse of the Pacific islands, have built such monumental works?

Explore Some Famous Cryptids
This short book was an exploration of some well known and not so known cryptids. From the Loch Ness monster to the Wendigo, Thunderbird, Yeti, Beast of Bodmin, Beast of Gevaudan, Bunyip, Kraken to reptilian, each is explored in a scientific manner. I enjoyed listening to the audio book version as well. An entertaining short work that cryptid fans should enjoy.
