About this listen

Runner and company have safely left the city ahead of the siege. Completing their class promotions with barely any time to spare.

Unfortunately Runner hasn't discovered the password he needs to begin the logoff process to save the 400,000 or so crewmates left alive in this game where dying truly means death.

The game continues to shift and change with each day and as a byproduct of Runner's actions.

Not only do the rules change, but those he's with have changed. No longer simple programs, they have reached actual sentience.

Pressing himself ever onwards to learn more about the world he finds himself surprised at every turn.

On top of navigating the ever changing game, the outside world has contacted him directly. Now he has to begin to navigate the situation as a gamer, IT support, and an officer.

Of course this would all be a lot easier if he hadn't gotten captured within a few hours of leaving Crivel.

Fate seems to be stacking the deck against him as quickly as she can this time around.

William D Arand never fails to put a smile on my face with his Unique Style and captivating characters. This is the second of the trilogy and I will be immediately moving on to the third as I cannot wait to see where these characters go. Highly recommend anybody that likes fantasy, litrpg or just a fun ride to read or listen to, to check these out!

Makes me smile

I love how the series is complex on multiple levels. There is the game world, then there is the real world, and also something else going on that is confusing the whole situation.

Rather pleased with how the story is progressing.

I have read this series twice, listened to it 3 times. Will probably read and listen to it even more. The fact that this type of story telling isn't more prevalent I'm western culture is a shame as it truly captures the subtleties of the flaws of our culture and reality as a whole. I know now, I can see, I have Awakened!

Start of a Spellbinding Universe!

Runner's adventure continues with escalating issues that plagues his sanity. His world begins to open in new avenues and the choices he makes become more dire by the day. Another great book and great read for everyone.

Second book keeps the hype going

The selfless hero trilogy? This guy is far from selfless. Without spoiling the story, let's just say he screws over hundreds of thousands to protect what he cares about. That is like the definition of selfish. Maybe the title is meant to be ironic, but I don't think so. Besides that, too much endless flirting and lovey dovey talk. It honestly gets nauseating. The whole thing starts to read like bad fan fiction. The performances are great, which the only glowing praise I can offer this franchise

Too much wish fulfillment

Ahh wonderful. Another fantastic title after a very appealing first book, with furthered character development and some back stories and world building. Nicely balancing the plot threads started earlier. It's finally dawning on me how strange it is to listen to a guy voicing a whole cast and getting you to believe and recognize everyone. It gets a little stretched with the growing cast at times but there are some pretty beautiful women's voices. That's just kinda badass and interesting on it's own. Loved the character direction. Would love some notice before the next one comes out in case I don't save my credits correctly.

Finally!
