Publisher's summary

The Earth is changing. The alien invasion brought social upheaval, advanced technology, and an armada of peacekeeping robots. But Alan, a college student pursuing a now-useless degree, cares little about all of this. He has only one thing on his mind: the Game.

A fully immersive virtual reality, the Game appears to be a major part of the invading civilization. Alan can't wait to play, recklessly diving into the digital universe. Soon though, Alan realizes the Game is anything but simple, and the stakes are higher than he ever imagined.

Great performance, ok RPG story

I felt like the entire book was a prelude to something that never happened. It was well preformed, but lacked an arc, no major conflict and no major resolution. Not sure if I will continue on this journey.

What a surprise

If your like me it's hard to be pleased by the same old formula used by most litrpg books. This is a cut above them all I have listened to twice and got to say I'm eagerly waiting for book 2. The narrator is perfect for this story can't wait until book 2.

Good book Pleasantly Surprised

I started with this genre reading The Land series and became hooked. Since then I’ve listened to dozens of litrpgs and some where good and others were just “ehh” and we’re just good enough. This book was one of the few that I throughly enjoyed and will definitely get the next book.

Entertaining

This is an entertaining listen
But. Be aware that it’s basically a video game description, with many of the tropes, and the action sequences sometimes sound like descriptions of cartoons. (there are definitely times I would be annoyed to have gotten such a book, but I guess I was in the mood for it this week)
It’s more a fantastical adventure book than sci-fi.
No deep thoughts involved, so it is very light reading.
It’s not the snark fest, or pop culture referencer, that too many recent books have become.
The main character is a naive dude stumbling into adventure, and constantly lucking out.
That said, it is an interesting game.

one of the best

This may be one of the very best LitRPG books on the market right now. It does have some over powering elements but I think the author shows that the main character is not really all that powerful on several occasions.

did except that

the summary of this book did no justice to how good this book was. the author knew what he wanted to write about and wrote it. and oh did he write extremely well. every chapter leaves you wanting more. loved the book and dont know what to expect from the next. but regardless im still excited.

Excellent read!

If you like "Ready Player One", you will enjoy this book. Great characters and a humorous storyline leave you waiting for more. I hope the next book comes out soon.

Excellent Opening to a Series

Opening Moves was the perfect beginning to what I'm expecting to be a really good series.
