About this listen

Ask anyone: September 11, 2001, was serene and lovely, a perfect day - until a plane struck the World Trade Center.

But right now, it is a few days earlier, and four kids in different parts of the country are going about their lives. Sergio, who lives in Brooklyn, is struggling to come to terms with the absentee father he hates and the grandmother he loves. Will's father is gone, too, killed in a car accident that has left the family reeling. Naheed has never before felt uncomfortable about being Muslim, but at her new school she's getting funny looks because of the head scarf she wears. Aimee is starting a new school in a new city and missing her mom, who has to fly to New York on business.

These four don't know one another, but their lives are about to intersect in ways they never could have imagined. Award-winning author Nora Raleigh Baskin weaves together their stories into an unforgettable novel about that seemingly perfect September day - the day our world changed forever.

Even though 9/11 was a very sad tragedy this book tells it beautifully. But in a individual way it show what it was a like for average children around the country and of multiple backgrounds. I loved it 😊

Amazing 🥲

It’s a great book, I’m just genuinely confused as to why Naheed’s name and other personal information was changed. For example: I don’t understand why her mother’s country of ancestry got changed from Iran to Pakistan. Why was the description changed from “Middle Eastern” to “South Asian”?

Name and Information Changes?

It was ok but not the best I wish it was a bit better just to be honest

Eh

I disliked because it was confusing because there was lots of parts with different characters and that made it like that.

Nothing this is such a bad book

This was interesting way to view September 11th. I’m happy I read the author’s note so I understood her reasoning. However, I was left wanting more and wishing there was more about the actual day. I would still recommend to my students.

Interesting but I wanted more
