Thoroughly enjoyable.

Cassandra Parker provides a great performance of the characters in this well written book. Totally credible personalities full of life and complexity fill the exploits of the arcane troupe. Annie Anderson gives us an entertaining tale with humor and adventure in this story filled with heart and sensitivity in a relatable, if occult, world. With snarky comments, as well as sincere introspection, the extraordinary talent of Cassandra Parker took me away from my own troubles and let me laugh and experience the magical world of Annie Anderson's imagination.

loved every minute of it. the story drew me in immediately. i cant wait to listen to the next book in the series.

I found this novel fun and funny with good action to move the story along. I think the narrator was the perfect choice for this novel

Let me just say this first... SLOAN IS MY SPIRIRT ANIMAL! Legit, this bish is a total badarsed lady.

As with any Annie Anderson book I got a whole gambit of emotions while reading. I laughed, worried and I will be honest, the cracker had me teary eyed at a point. I loved every single solitary word of this story. It's one of my faves for sure. The characters grow on you. Even though... (coughs) I wanted to punt one of them into next week. for a bit, he redeemed himself. haha.

Each new character you meet in this story the bubble of fun, conspiracy and balance creeps in. Just when you think the book is going one way, it goes another. You think left, it goes right. Which, let's be honest, that makes for a darn good story. The badassedness of each character lends to the stability of the group which in turn makes the developments of the story form into a better book. The underlying issue, the why and how Sloane is who and where she is, takes you on an emotional rollercoaster of ups and downs. By the time that train slides into home you are ready to hug her, put her in your pocket and do all you can to keep her safe. In the end, that's the only way she may survive what's happening around her.

I can not wait to see what Sloan, Bastian and the rest of the crew get up to next. Something tells me that its going to raise a few roofs and bring them back down on someone's head.

This was the first book I read from this author. Interesting story with a fast moving plot. The narrator does snark very well. Overall a decent read and a good listen.

Very entertaining!

Funny and exciting! I listen to Audible at night and have a tendency to fall asleep while being read to, but not this book! Kept me awake in a good way.

Loved the book and love the audiobook too!

When i got used to Cassandra Parker way of bringing life to Sloane, i couldn't stop listening and will be revisiting this series quite often it is soo good. Sloane is such a great character, can't wait to grab Death Watch when it releases in audiobook.

Vivid details

This book is so full of vivid details that you see and even smell in your mind’s eye all that transpires. I’d love to follow the series, but I’m not sure I can listen to another book with the intonation of this narrator. I believe she was trying to appeal to a younger audience with the “valley girlish” voice of the main character, but it is hard to listen to. The sentence breaks and near squealing is distracting. At times, she drops it and the details of the story carry you along, but then she falls back into that pattern. There is quite a bit of unnecessary profanity, but it is in character, so not offensive. I may buy the book and read the next installment myself as the book held my interest and left me wanting to know the continuing fate of the characters.

Do not go by past reviews! Great Book

You cannot go by the pass review. I’m wondering if we listen to the same book. I love it. The author is fabulous. The narrator is great….She really works this character.. If you’re looking for someone that is drab nasal sound and dull this is not the book for you.

Totally the funniest, fast paced, twisty turning paranormal adventure with many strong female characters that kick butt and walk away. Already purchased the rest of the series and can’t wait
