About this listen

This is book two in The Five Syndicates series.

Niccolaio Andretti

Asshole. Douchebag. Jerk. Those are all valid descriptions of me, especially since fleeing from Andretti territory. Angry with the turn my life has taken, I prefer the silence and loneliness of my house. Not only is it the safest place for me after my brother placed a hit on me, it is also my sanctuary - my place to get away from the bullshit that is people. Until she comes along - angry, demanding, and so damn hot. I hate her immediately.

Minka Reynolds

Bitch. Tramp. Slut. I've heard it all before. It doesn't bother me. I have more important things to deal with - like graduating from Wilton; taking care of my little sister; and yes, finding the next guy to pay for it all. If I have to sleep around for it? So be it. If I have to lose the dwindling tethers of my sanity every day? So be it. Nothing fazes me. Until he comes along - angry, demanding, and so damn hot. I hate him immediately.

Minka Reynolds has never been liked, but she doesn't care. Struggling to earn custody of her little sister, she is on a mission to gain the only things that will get her there - money, a home, and a stable career. Unfortunately, she has none of those three, but she's close. It's just within reach...until she meets Niccolaio Andretti, the former heir to the Andretti mafia family, and everything she thinks is right becomes wrong.

NOTE: This is the second book in a series and must be heard in order. This book has a HEA with no cheating and abuse! There are some graphic sexual situations, language and violence, so please listen with caution.

I laughed, I gasped, and I cheered!

Audio-book: Narrators - Lacy Laurel and D.C. Cole

Wow! These narrators did a freaking fantastic job of bringing Niccolaio and Minka to full life. They pulled me deeper into the story than I would have been had I simply read the book and I found myself laughing, gasping, and cheering with this hero and heroine via the narrators. The fluctuation of both were perfect and both did an admirable job of vocalizing the opposite sex’ voice. I was fully engaged the entire time.

I loved both main characters as well as all their brokeness. They are each missing a vital chunk out of their lives but while one ignores it and hunts down death, the other fights against it and all the chains it keeps them in. However, once they come together they find the strength to open themselves up to new thoughts, new possibilities and perhaps new love.

This was a rather quick read that never bogged down. The steam is high, the humor light, the secondary characters necessary. It loved the mafia background/connection as it was a bit heavier than some mafia romances I read. Overall, an extremely enjoyable read that I would highly recommend in either ebook or audio.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Forgiveness

I liked the book. it's fast paced and it easily grabs and holds your attention so that you can't stop listening until the end.

I like the message of the book about learning to forgive, others and specially yourself. That is what Minka and Niccolaio learnt to do through this book.

This is the first book of the series that I've read, and didn't have any problem getting into the story.

The narrattion of Lacy Laurel and D.C Cole was really great, they did an amazing job narrating the book

Niccolaio Andretti: A Mafia Romance

Loved this audiobook. The narration was wonderful.
The story definitely drew me in and I couldn’t stop, had to see what was happened. Nick and Minka both had there own journeys. Definitely recommend

Slow Burn Mafia Romance

I really enjoyed the narration by DC Cole and Lacy Laurel in this slow burn mafia romance. There was just the right amount of steam, angst, and action to draw listeners/readers in. Though characters from the previous book Asher Black do appear, this book can be enjoyed as a stand alone.

Our hero and heroine, Niccolaio and Minka, are not easy characters to like. They are broken, angry, and trust almost no one. Their pasts have left them unfortunately bitter and alone. As their paths cross though, they recognize the familiarity of their pain in the other and begin an unlikely friendship/arrangement. I liked that both held no punches with the other and that no matter how ugly the truth, they let it all show. The sexual tension and chemistry was amazing and continued to build until it exploded between them. Minka and Niccolaio might drive each other crazy, but they are the perfect crazy for each other.

Both DC Cole and Lacy Laurel captured the pain and heartache of our characters so well, but they also nailed the laugh out loud moments too! The scene where Jax is telling Niccolaio that he will name all of his future offspring after him was the BEST! I love the mix of humor, action, and emotion in Parker S. Huntington's books. The ending of the story brought everything full circle, and was such a wonderful way to bring it all together.

Good Story

I found this a fairly good story and D.C. Cole’s narration was exceptional, as usual. Unfortunately I struggled with the female narrator. There was just something about her voice that I found difficult to listen to thus it distracted from the story for me and it took me awhile to get through the book. The four stars I have given for performance are for D.C. Cole. I wouldn’t have finished the book if it hadn’t been for him. I see other reviewers enjoyed both narrators so don’t let my opinion discourage you from trying the book....The story really is enjoyable.

Amazing listen!

I LOVED this! Amazing listen full of complex characters, lots of emotion, and a great story. I loved Minka and Niccolaio’s story. This is the second book in the series and I would highly recommend listening in order, both for clarity and because the first book is great too! Amazing performances from both narrators, so much emotion went into their performance and they really brought the author’s words to life. Niccolaio Andretti

Just like Asher Black, this book brings you to the brink of emotions. The narration with this brings you even closer into the mafia so you can feel absolutely everything. You have a good girl gone bad and a fixer who look like there is no way it would work out, but as you look further into both of them you can see their vulnerabilities are the same. An amazing book. Can’t wait for the next!

Mafia Neighbors

Niccolaio Andretti: A Mafia Romance Novel (The Five Syndicates, Book 2) needs to be listened to in order in my opinion. As, I listened to these out of order and felt like I was missing something with this particular audio. I've listened to also 3, 5, and 6 and absolutely loved them. This one is my least favourite and felt I missed the boat by not listening to Asher Black first. I absolutely loved the cover of this one, but not the characters so much. The synopsis is alluring and the narrative is intriguing but just not as exciting as the other audios in this series. I wasn't in love with the characters, especially Minka and felt like if I would have listened to Asher Black first I may have liked her if I knew more about her already. I would love to go back and listen to this series over again from book one.

Narators Lacy Laurel, D. C. Cole are fluent and their inflection fits the mold of a mafia creation. I loved listening to D.C.Cole and he made the audio better. His deep baritone voice is exhilarative. Lacy Laurel enunciation is articulates all the right vibes in the right places.

Overall a alright listen but not my favourite.

DC Cole does it for me

OK, I liked the story and the writing.
DC Cole did a wonderful job narrating this book, he is one of my favourite narrators.
As for Lacy Laurel, I also know her under another name and as soon as l heard her voice I realised I may have a hard time listening to this book in one sitting.
Don`t misunderstand, I like Lacy in the most part, but I do have trouble listening to her in long sittings.
That could be just me, others may enjoy this audiobook far more than I.
