In Murder Takes a Break, Galveston, Texas principal investigator Truman Smith loathes missing person cases because they either end up badly for his clients, or the person does not want to be found. So only as a personal favor to his friend Dino would Tru accept the case of missing college student, Randall Kirbo, who disappeared in the area while on Spring break nine months ago.
After sifting the facts from the very minimal police investigation on the case, Tru tracks Randall to a house owend by a local vice queen, Big Al. Another kid who attended the same party was later found dead on the beach As the investigation unfolds, it becomes clear that this is anything but a typical missing person's case, and the party - and it's attendants - hold the clues to a killer, and his case.

entertaining mystery
The dry humor added to a very enjoyable tale. Some criminals with standards, some with a conscience, and others were just selfish. I really enjoyed the dialogue of the main character, because he "made" the story imo. It irked me that local law let their egos get in the way of investigating for the truth and the one that got away!!! The shoot out in chapters 35 was a bit hilarious to me, but I have a warped sense of humor. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Galveston, Texas Truman doesn’t like missing person cases, as a personal favor he takes. Spring break, a student went missing nine months ago, from a party , another one was found dead. Good narration added to the story, the plot was good, and the final book in the series. Given audio for my voluntary review
