Good story

Like plot did not like ending. Overall good listen yada yada yada yada yada yada

A solid 3+

I had high hopes for this book since the author also wrote the “Dexter” series. The writing is taught, the humor is light but the plot is formulaic. The narration is fairly good. It is a medium paced light listen. I was entertained somewhat but disappointed overall.

Definitely Not Dexter

I love crime stories on boats. The narrator is the best on Audible. I’ll be downloading the rest of the authors’ books.

Jeff Lindsay doesn’t disappoint

I was introduced to Jeff Lindsay from his Dexter series which were cleverly written. It is only lately I have discovered his other books and look forward to more! Jay Snyder was perfect.

Not a bad story.

3-star rating = Pretty good. I noticed some signs of Dexter-like charistics here and there. It's a slow story with seemingly irrelevant parts that drag a bit, but I didn't get bored. Jeff Lindsay did a good job of making the reader sympathetic to the main character. Besides the ending, which I felt was exaggerated and somewhat unbelievable, much of the story had a realistic undertone. It was written in 1994, so is a bit dated, but having been alive then I was able to recall that period. I'll probably check out the second book one of these days.

Pain and Purpose

Fighting corruption in the justice system is detailed in this story in a way that captures the heart, mind and soul. Author Jeff Lindsay masterfully crafts his main character's inner world making him vividly real and relatable. Skillfully narrated and voice acted by Jay Snyder, the listener becomes Billy and wrestles with his conflict and little bursts of happiness throughout this tale.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I am a huge Jeff Lindsay fan. I loved the Dexter series. This series is very stagnant. I just could not get into it and finish it out. the story was not good, characters are boring.

I enjoyed Billy’s character. The plot was pretty bland. Stereotypical villains and storyline. I expected more from this author. An older book so maybe that’s why. An airport read at best
