Publisher's summary

Halloween is the biggest holiday of the year in Salem, Massachusetts - but when B&B owner Charlene Morris finds the dead body of a witch, it spells trouble....

Charlene, recently widowed, has renovated her historic mansion just in time to greet guests arriving for the town's annual Halloween festivities. She's lucky to have a helpful staff to provide support - as well as a handsome ghost named Jack standing invisibly by her side.

Unfortunately, while the revelers head out on haunted tours, have their fortunes told, or grab a drink at Brews and Broomsticks, a killer walks among them. When Charlene discovers Morganna, a local Wiccan, dead in her shop, she starts getting cozy with the local coven, looking for clues to locate the crafty culprit. Salem may be famous for the false accusations of witchery in centuries past, but this time someone is genuinely guilty - of murder...

I DO LOVE THIS SERIES

THIS WAS A DELIGHTFUL CONTINUATION OF AN ENTERTAINING SERIES. HISTORICAL SALEM, A BEAUTIFUL OLD MANSION TURNED B&B, A GRACIOUS HOSTESS, 2 MALE ADMIRERS. ALMOST PERFECT, BUT THEN THERE ARE THE GHOSTS, WITCHES, AND MURDER. YEP, PERFECT.

Story 4 / Narrator 2

STORY: This is an entertaining series with decent development of cozy characters and imagery. i am intrigued enough to continue.
NARRATOR: OMG. The “British” accent was sooooo bad. And “JIM-iminez.” C’mon. Seriously?
In an audio book, these are important things that take you out of the reverie of the story.

Too many things to overlook

The author & narrator both seem a little lazy with this one. The author couldn't be bothered to spend 5 seconds to look up the legal drinking age in Massachusetts...it's 21. Here, this B&B owner gives whiskey to two 20 year-old guys without batting an eye. As in book 1, the MC refers to her "classes" in marketing that she took in college rather than any experience gained from her 20 year career. The relationships are all expedited, going from meeting to absolutely committed in a matter of pages/hours. This detracts from the credibility of the story and makes this character, Charlene, come off as absolutely stupid.

As for the narrator: Her pronunciation of the character named Jimenez as JIM-an-ez, is really annoying. Her attempts at accents are cringeworthy. Sometimes she will start off with an accent (weak for all that) and it completely disappears by the end of the sentence. I don't know if these people had any editors or anyone overseeing the quality of the writing & narration, but they certainly need someone to fill that role. I'm glad I got this book for free & didn't have to pay for it.

The main character was dumb

the narrator was great but I've never wanted a cop to arrest someone for interfering with a police investigation so bad. She just kept getting herself in trouble and then expected Sam and Jack to bail her out.

Sounds Familiar

Series storyline sounds a lot like the Haunting Danielle. The main character is kind of not smart; not just because of the decisions she makes but intellectually. Tolerable but not a must read .

Don’t like the heroin

The heroine in this story is so stupid. She kept deciding to interfere in Police business. I don’t know if it was a ego or what. But every single time she got in trouble, and every single time the policeman had become bail out over and over and over. I tried hard to like this heroin, but by the second book I am very much over her
