About this listen

Jeffrey Archer's sweeping tale of the Clifton family advances to the late 1960s.

Harry Clifton is more successful than ever as a novelist, and has just been elected president of PEN Britain. He learns of a writer in Russia whose memoir of life inside Stalin's palace has landed the writer in prison for life, his book taken off shelves and destroyed. Harry becomes obsessed with freeing the writer and telling his story. His wife Emma, meanwhile is the chair of Barringtons Shipping, having escaped a plot to destroy their company by bombing one of their luxury liners, and now the company is thriving. But old villains remain determined in their efforts to bring down both Emma and her family.

From Major Alex Fisher to his friend and ally Mrs. Virginia Fenwick, Emma will have to use every tool she has to save them. Their son Sebastian's banking career means everything to him, but is he willing to give up Samantha, the love of his life, in pursuit of his success? Once again, in the hands of our age's most masterful storyteller, the lives of the Clifton family will have listeners mesmerized.

And the story continues!

The narrator is a great fit and easy to listen to. This story continues on at full strength. Cannot wait to listen to the next novel.

The narrating is incredible - the storyline is rich in intrigue and heart-stopping moments! By now, the characters are no longer imaginary to me. I will certainly be lunching with them all someday!

Another outstanding episode.

Even though at times I wish the chronicles of the Clifton family would conclude, I can't wait for the next episode. Mr. Archer continues keep me on the edge of my seat waiting.

well we waited one year for this sequel

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Do we have to wait another year .. we all knew that the main themem would continue until the next in the sequence and its a bit of usuary that Archer keeps us in suspense ... but be more creative about the subject to be bridged over to the next. This was transparent from chapter 20.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Archer' is good at this sort of personal painting of charaters and therefore you are kept intrigued

Which scene was your favorite?

Cant tell you without blowing the pot

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no

Any additional comments?

WHen do we get the next in the Clifton Chronicals?

Ending

Is this series ever going to wrap up with a conclusion? The series is intriguing, but leaves the reader with a cliff hanger at the end of each book.

Plots unending

Excellent story with page turning appeal.
Endings always leave one hanging for some resolution to come in next novel although as soon as one is found another quickly appears on the horizon. Not sure this is fair game although certainly a successful marketing maneuver ......
