Publisher's summary

Twelve-year-old Micah Murphy’s life has been turned upside down. First, his parents move him to a small boring town on the other side of the country, and now, his friends are not even messaging him back. The prospects for a great eigth grade are not looking good.

After finding an old kayak, and proceeding to lose his way while exploring the shore of the Atlantic, Micah finds himself caught up in an adventure bigger than he planned.

Micah is trapped in a strange land. All he wants to do is get home. Even if that means his parents will ground him for the rest of the summer. Isdralan is a world in the shadows of our imagination, balanced between light and dark. He has to learn whom he can trust, in a place where nothing is as it seems, and come face to face with secrets he never knew existed.

Will Micah be able to face his fears, or will he be stuck in Isdralan forever?

Great story for the whole family

The theme of holding on to wonder, magic and mystery is seen from both the parent and child sides of the dyad. I listened to this in 2 days (on my own), but this would be great for a family road trip- especially if you’re headed to Maine!

Excellent for the fantasy loving YA audience!

This book was recommended to me to preview for my grandchildren. I found the story well-written and intriguing. It flowed well and introduced characters with sufficient detail to understand their subsequent behaviors. The narration was brilliant. If I had not known the truth, I would have guessed there were at least 4 narrators. I highly recommend this book to the targeted audience (and their grandparents!)

Great story! Really fun narrator!

The story was really fun with a lot of unexpected and clever twists. The narrator was FANTASTIC! His voices gave the story so much life, and held all the humor and emotion I would imagine the characters to have if I were reading it myself. Bravo!
