Publisher's summary

Brinley has spent her life lost in her imagination, teaching bullfrogs to do gymnastics and pretending to be invisible. Now, when a magic bell from another world summons her across time and space on a journey to find her mother, she will discover real friendship, face true evil, and overcome her greatest fears in order to save the ones she loves.

The Mage and the Magpie is the first book in Austin J. Bailey's Magemother series: an epic middle-grade fantasy adventure series with witches, shapeshifters, and cliffhangers, and awesome kids.

cool but kinda confusing

the narrator was amazing and my favorite part was when the angel witch turned to the good side when her sister and other witches were on the bad side

It's own

We found this story through a Facebook advertisement, said something along the lines of ..... "if you enjoy Harry Potter or Percy Jackson, then you'll ..". We did indeed love this book, but it's definitely it's own. The author has a unique flair for keeping things moving in such a way you are content in the moment. I didn't find myself looking around the bend, pressured to figure out plot twists etc. Cleverly enough written but straight forward all the same. I can't wait for the rest to come out of production.

Loved this story and the performance was excellent

Loved this story and the performance was excellent! Austin does a wonderful job of drawing you into this world and Brinley's dilemma. I can't wait to discover the rest of the story!

I also appreciated that this was a complete story without too sharp a cliff hanger, though still building great anticipation for the next chapters in Brinley's adventure. That can be hard to do, but it is accomplished here beautifully!

Kate's narration captures the soul of the words and each character. I love how easy she was to listen to and how well she portrayed the voice of each character with subtle, yet distinct differences. She even included melody into Brinley's song! Well done!

If you ever wanted Siri to read you a story, this is the book for you!

This is a good story completely ruined by the auto-tuned/computer voice performance. It's not quite monotone, and yet there is a very odd, emotionless, quality to the read. It feels very synthetic. I've never been so instantly turned off by and audiobook.
