About this listen

Simon Rolla was a violent and troubled youth with a scarred checkered past and a painful dark secret. He’s now a member of the notorious City of Miami Police Department, despite being raised in an impoverished Miami neighborhood where death, drugs, and crime reigned supreme.

Simon's days are kept busy protecting and serving the citizens of Miami from the chaos that surrounds these mean streets. As his grandmother, Ma Ader, his boss, Captain Murphy, and his godfather, Shipyard, lay the groundwork for what seems to be a destiny filled with killers, gangsters, and cops. Simon's dreams of becoming a good cop defending the weak and helpless now lay in the balances of karma. For what he has done causes turbulent storms of reciprocity to come to Overtown, causing him to commit unthinkable acts with consequences and enough power to change the course of his future.

Given a second chance at life, follow Simon's dissension into the abyss of Hell as he maneuvers his way through the asphalt jungles of Miami's most dangerous Overtown and Liberty City sections. Simon bravely attempts to find redemption amid a city consumed with hate, greed and murderous religious cults.

Miami Misnomer is a captivating and compelling urban tale. It provides a glimpse of the gritty trek through the dangerous streets of Miami's forbidden neighborhoods as a forsaken boy grows into a man, and does everything he can just to survive.

Amazing written

Amazingly written!!!! Robert Earl is brutally and unflinchingly honest. You will cry with him, not only because the stories are heartbreaking, but because you see yourself or someone you love in his words. You will swear with him to the point that you are curse out loud and people think that you’re insane. But the most important message he teaches readers is that it’s okay to be broken. It’s okay to not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel because everything will eventually be okay. There is a whole tribe of people out there just like you, and he is their leader. Read it. Pass it on. Buy it for a friend. Seriously, you will love this book. Again I said, amazingly done.

Miami Misnomer is without a doubt one of the most entertaining novels I’ve ever encountered!

Jaw dropping, pearl clutching, suspenseful and thrilling is how I describe this audiobook. From the story to the narration. I hope that it becomes a movie or a series. It’s just that good! If you enjoy action and suspense, this audiobook will not disappoint; it exceeded my expectations and I’m sure you will feel the same!

Well worth reading....

Robert Earl is such an incredible writer. I was so deeply engrossed in the story that when I went to sleep, I was an observing character in the story. It took me back to the harsh reality that hit me when I moved to Miami in 1987. The glitz and glamor of South Beach and Miami Vice is what attracted me. I thought I was moving to New York in warm weather with palm trees, sun, beaches, surfing and sailing. That lasted all about 9 weeks, until I got lost, and was carjacked in the inner city. A city that I never heard of, nor even new existed. Outside of the local news, no one really know about these actualities. that are the norm of the everyday life of Miami. No one really promotes the ugly, they attract with the FACTS which are not necessarily the TRUTH. Robert Earl took us all the way in by pulling back shades and flicking on the spotlight so we can experience what goes on behind the fancy curtains and window treatments of this city called MIAMI.

Provocative, stimulating, dramatic & entertaining

I absolutely loved every bit of "Miami Misnomer" ! Every chapter grabs onto you and holds you. I found myself visualizing every moment as in a movie. The ending of each chapter excitedly impelled me to want more! The narration was also great.
