Very thorough and on point

As a mom of 2 ADHD kids, I can say this book is very well-written and full of helpful information. Not every child with ADHD behaves the same way or struggles with the same things. My son and my daughter are very different with their ADHD. My daughter struggles with the every day tasks, being forgetful, has a range of emotions, cannot think things through and it interferes with everything that she does. My son is more. He needs his brain to just slow down a bit so that he can focus on some harder things, but he does very well with everyday tasks, and his memory is phenomenal.

The strategies can be very helpful but do not worry if not all of them work. What I learned with my kids is I needed to remove what I thought parenting my kids would be like and instead focus on who they are and how they operate and then figure out how best to support that. I also had to learn to not compare my kids to others. Once you can do this, then trying various methods with your kids can become more successful.

BEST Parenting Manual

This was an easy listen! Very educational. Provides different approaches and parenting techniques to apply in every day life at home and in the school setting. I read the book and listened to this audio and get more information from it each time in doing so. I love how the author shared personal experiences relating to their trials and tribulations in dealing with their son's diagnosis and related behaviors. Thank you for this wonderful guide. I have already begun applying some of the techniques such as with homework time and it is already producing positive outcomes for my boy.

Very educational

Thank you for this book. I do have a lot of adult friends who have the diagnosis, and who are still struggling to know how to deal with it. I feel that has a parent it can be so useful to have all those educational tools. I love how the book is picturing ADHD not as a disability, but as a strength when understood and supported in the proper way. I feel this can bring a lot of hope to the people with ADHD who feel like they need to fit in.

Kids with ADHD

The author is correct that we need to teach our kids many great things. Our kids also teach us what it's like to embrace life from their challenges that we may not know what they experience. The author shares how to help your child navigate educational challenges, relationships, and emotional highs and lows while managing stress. Our children need to learn about time management, organization, and goal-setting. I like the narrator and the story; it's very informative.

Practical Guide for Parenting with Patience

This book has been a real eye-opener for me. As a parent who raised multiple children with ADHD, I often felt overwhelmed and second-guessed my approach, especially when it came to managing school challenges and emotional outbursts. What I appreciated here is the down-to-earth, realistic strategies. The tips on handling homework, helping children stay organized, and especially the techniques for advocating in school are invaluable. It’s more than just advice; it’s like having a toolkit to lean on when things get tough, one which I have now passed on to my child, now grown, who has ADHD kids of his own. This book will help him feel equipped and encouraged, as well as invoke positive change.
