The Kingdom has changed more in his absence than he thought possible…

After traveling across the entirety of the Sealance Empire and the deserts of Lowenthal, Larek has returned home to the Kingdom of Androthe to find that the situation is quite different from what he remembered. Not only are there massive Apertures called Calamities consuming large portions of the landscape, but most of his friends are also scattered to locations unknown around the Kingdom. Worse yet, they have no idea who he is because of the Dominion magic used on them before he was transported to the Empire.

Despite those setbacks, Larek is determined to reunite with both his friends and his family. Problems arise almost immediately upon entering the Kingdom, however, as he is presented with a delay of his reunion with them all. As a result, he is forced to adapt to the sheer devastation he finds himself surrounded with.

Through it all, there is one truth that is becoming more and more evident as time goes on.

As powerful of a Fusionist he may be, Larek also struggles with fighting and anything more than basic combat tactics, as his skills in that department are sorely lacking. It’s time to learn how to fight instead of just flailing around, swinging his axe and hoping that his higher stats will carry the day.

In other words, the Fusionist needs to undergo a much-needed Martial TransFusion.

This weak-to-strong MC story contains LitRPG elements such as character progression and statistics, as well as a heavy crafting emphasis. No explicit sexual content or harems.

I wonder if…

As an engineer I ask myself, “I wonder if…” a lot, and I really enjoy seeing the MC take that same process to the Magic system in this book. Sometimes hard Magic systems feel really repetitive but by using the rules that are set in place to do creative things this one becomes a lot of fun. Always love it when Main Characters have to get creative. This whole series is a lot of fun and it feels like it’s just getting started.

Still a great series

Can’t wait for the next book, loving this series. Interested in where Laric will go next

Magic of friendship done right

I love how the story is still driven by the protagonists desires and friendships but there is also enough other sub plots to keep things interesting. Character progression was great in this book as well. Can’t wait for the next.

Fusionist gets martial

Martial TransFusion

Larek has finally made it back to the Kingdom. Things have changed drastically though. The kingdom is divided into quadrants as four apertures have expanded so massively that they have absorbed all nearby apertures and fused into what the locals are calling the Calamities. Larek is more concerned with figuring out what happened to his friends and family though. If he has any chance of saving them, he will need to work on his martial skills and stats. Not only that, he will need a lot of training.

It was great to see Larek in a group again. I feel that this character works best that way. This book was packed full of action and goals being addressed. After the end of the book, I’m looking forward to the next entry! Like most of Jonathan Brooks’ recent books, the stats are their own mini chapters, so it can be as smooth or crunchy as you want. Miles Meili does fantastic narrating.

Fun

The main character is finally back in his country and he is finding out that the world has drastically changed in the time he has been gone. He sets out to locate his family and learns that the organization he was part of has fallen apart, and people are suffering. He learns where his family is, but is unable to rescue them at this time. So he sets about locating his friends. He finds two, and briefly attends school to learn to control his Marshall skills. Finding his second friend requires him to resolve a catastrophe. Him and his friends just barely managed to close the catastrophe and set off to find their next friend, The book ends.

it is still an entertaining world with a fascinating magic system and it is growing and expanding. The pacing is excellent and I am thoroughly enjoying the narrator. Please enjoy.

Another step forward in the series

This book is another step forward in the series. It was a good book and a good addition to the series. At this point, the end of the series is in sight, but there is enough left for multiple books. The fusions are getting bigger, better, and stronger.
If I had to say something negative about the book it is that Larek's development as a character is slow (he is still full of self doubt, quick to anger, and reluctant to be the hero that he obviously is). I expect that to change over the next book or two.

Another GREAT book in the series!

This story is a great continuation of Larik and his adventures! The progression of the story had me guessing what would happen next and when I thought I figured it out, there was another curve in the road that started my guessing all over again. As with most LitRPG books there are stat tables that I am sure some listeners trudge through but I love that Jonathan Brooks puts the full tables in a sub chapter so listeners can skip them if they want to and not miss anything in the story. I am looking forward to what comes next! As always, Miles Meili does a great job narrating the book.

Complex and Wonderful

Larek has returned from across the seas and back to the Kingdom. Along the way, he has increased his power and abilities, learning more and becoming more capable.

My favorite aspect of the whole series is the incredible structure of the system. Larek's fusions grow bit by bit and the author does a great job detailing how it works. Each level of understanding is well thought out and builds on the previous explanations seamlessly.

Unlike many LitRPG adventures, I can really *see* the system and its manipulations in my mind because Brooks is so clear in his descriptions. It really is one of the best-thought-out-and-explained systems I've read.

I am really looking forward to the next part of Larek's adventure.
