Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

The secret to happiness is to acknowledge and transform suffering, not to run away from it. Here, Thich Nhat Hanh offers practices and inspiration transforming suffering and finding true joy. Thich Nhat Hanh acknowledges that because suffering can feel so bad, we try to run away from it or cover it up by consuming. We find something to eat or turn on the television. But unless we’re able to face our suffering, we can’t be present and available to life, and happiness will continue to elude us.

LOVE the empowerment focus!
I think I’ve heard it said before that manifesting can feel hard to get in touch with for certain people when it’s not specifically geared toward them. Based on my limited understanding of the books and resources specifically geared toward black Americans, this one is incredible. I love that it takes into account different life experiences, and situations that black women are most likely to find themselves in, as well as the dreams and goals that similarly seem to be attributed to strong black women. I shared this book with a friend of mine to see if she found it as empowering as it seemed it would be to me.

Empowering!
This is an eye-opening audiobook! Thanks to the information contained in the book I now understand what is meant by the term “manifestation.” There is so much here for me as a Black woman to learn about myself; lessons that traditional self-help and manifestation books have not delivered. The book is a beautiful blend of spiritual and practical guidance that speaks directly to me, with practical, actionable advice that I can follow as I tap into my inner power and manifest my deepest desires.
I highly recommend this powerful tool for personal growth and transformation to black women who want to create more fulfilling, abundant, and joyful lives.
