About this listen

Stevie Foster thought her happily ever after would come easily after saying “I do” to her high school sweetheart at 19.

But 12 years later, she finds herself divorced, settling into a new home, in a new town, with a new job as an elementary teacher trying to pick up the pieces as she goes. On top of struggling to cope with the future she always wanted versus the one she’s been dealt, she soon realizes that her new neighbor is a strict, stone-faced man she’s all too familiar with.

Lieutenant Colonel Fletcher Miller; the man once in charge of her ex-husband’s unit.

And as if the reminder across the street of what she lost wasn’t painful enough, she also becomes his young son’s teacher. A single dad. A divorcee. A second chance at love neither knew they’d get.

Loved It!

This is a slow burn love after divorce romance. I loved how they were neighbors and the military connection between her ex husband and new love interest.

I love single dad's books so much 🥹🫶🏻

𝔹. ℂ𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕖 - 𝕄𝕒𝕜𝕖 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕄𝕚𝕤𝕤 𝕄𝕖

I've been following this author for a while now, from the moment she announced the release of her first book I had my eye on her.
As soon as I heard that this book was going to be translated for me it was a sign from heaven for me to start reading her books.
And also because the book has a playlist 🔥
As soon as there is a good playlist I know it's going to be a good book.

I want to start from the dedication of the book: "To myself—for realizing that I was wasting time with a Hunter when I deserved a Fletcher all along."
Only later did I realize how strong and kicking this dedication is!

Stevie Foster presses the "start over" button on her life, from a married woman she changes her title to divorced, from a big city to small new town, from a big house to live alone.
It's not easy to push that button, a button that shakes the whole ground beneath us, but I admire Stevie for it.

To say that I fell in love with Fletcher would be an understatement, and his son? Grabbed my heart with his both hands like it was his luck charm 🥺❤️
This man's sensitivity towards Stevie was like the touch of a feather, he was everything I wished for Stevie!
(and for myself too, he really is THE husband material!!!)

Some will say that this is a slow-burn novel, but if you ask me, you shouldn't rush a good story.
Every moment in this book is meant to happen at the right time!
I didn't feel like I was getting burned, on the contrary, I felt that the book was built in the most perfect way there is;
The softness, the tenderness, "baby steps", everything was precise and I would not skip a single step.

This is not just a romantic novel, it is a story about the journey of a woman who finds her voice, who becomes the best version of herself and the man who makes sure to remind her that the reins are solely in her hands ❤️
Recommended for all lovers of single fathers, a second chance for love, strong women, noble men and romance of the best kind there is .🤌🏻✨❤️

Good storyline

The storyline is good, but I think that there was to much pre-history before the interaction with Fletcher got going. I liked the connection with Nicky and Stevie and how the story brought attention to the autism spectrum and trigger issues. The sex scenes were nice and spicy. I think that unless a female reader can do a good male voice impression that you should have two narrators. A nice deep voiced male narrator for Fletcher would have been a sexy touch, the female voice for Fletcher was flat sounding. The female narrator had some good natural moments, but she did sound a bit stilted and robotic in her reading. Overall a good audio book.

Enjoyable Slow Burn

I’m always a sucker for a good slow-burn. This one was definitely worth a credit. The story moved quickly despite being a slow-burn, which makes or breaks these types of books for me. Will have to look into more books by this author.
