Interesting story

Well developed character and an interesting story. It kept me wanting to know what would happen next.

I Had to DNF

Seven chapters in and I had to DNF. I found Callan to be very off putting, obnoxious, and overbearing from the first introduction. Also, the narrator sounded too robotic when it came to Valerin and overall the male voices were not believable just more annoying than anything. As a sci-fi/fantasy fan I had high hopes for this story but alas it was not meant to be.

Great adventure

Fun with lots of twists, feel good adventure, glad for a happy ending. Will make this author a favorite.

A True Beginning

I enjoyed this storyline. I can see it merging seamlessly between urban and contemporary time fantasy.
With the villains and good guys setup by the end of the story, the author can move the story along into a long and successful series.

I'm going to follow A.J. Locke to see what happens next.

Hard to listen to.

Disjointed words. Every word was enunciated so sharply this was a story of individuals word interspersed with inhalations.

Love the story

The story line was great and that’s what kept me listening but the narrator sounded like AI.

Top 3 Fantasy Book

Now I have to stay up all night to read the second one!!
The fantasy world she painted was amazing! The book was action packed, it had twists, it was fun - I cried.. I laughed..l held my breath! I hope the series continues because I'm in love!!! I will definitely read some more of her work! Great book and the characters are black — chefs kiss!

Excellent story... but that narrator omg

This was a great story- different from others I've listened to in the same genre. I look forward to future insallments! The world building was great I enjoyed a world that knew they had lost magic as opposed to secret societies or just being oblivious. All the characters were great as well. At times their backgrounds were a little bland, but I hope there will be more details in the future. The main character is very guarded and it also caused a bit of a disconnect for me as a reader. The character's emotions/feelings were hidden from the readers too!

Now the narrator almost made me stop listening. At times, she read worse than my 10 year old. towards the middle of the book, the narrator gets better to the point its tolerable but just barely -it was not easy. If the narrator is the same next book I'll buy the paperback instead.

Wanted to Love This but Didn’t

I only made it to 29% in. I HATED the narration. The cadence was weird and no one talks like this. Not sure I liked the storyline either. This just wasn’t for me, I guess. Ya can’t love everything.

Not for me

I really tried to like this book. I couldn't get into it. There were too many characters and the world created was a bit complicated. I gave up and returned it.
