Publisher's summary

Available in audio first, this hot, hilarious stand-alone will keep you wildly entertained!

Welcome to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where shape-shifters, vampires, witches, and dragons live alongside humans. The town formed around the mysterious energy rift in the bayou, which helps keep the town’s magic in balance. But lately the rift has been widening and destabilizing - threatening to send the town’s magical population into chaos.

Energy witch Danica Teel has been sent by the League to figure out what’s going on, with the help of bear-shifter Mayor Zed. While working on the case, Zed falls head over paws for Dani, but she’s reluctant to engage in anything beyond a roll in his cave. Dani’s family is counting on her to get the job done, and she has no time for distractions. But when an ominous presence begins stalking Dani through the bayou, they’ll need to band together to make it out alive.

Adorable story

Molly always writes such cute and funny books. I always look forward to her new releases. The book is a continuation of the series and keeps all the original characters involved. I always hate when authors steer away from the characters in previous books. I like to know what happens to everyone, not just new characters. Molly really makes the story come alive. You can always close your eyes and picture each person and see the town. She does such a great job with just enough descriptive information to make a picture, but not enough to make you need to skip forward. Lol. Great job, and adorable story Molly!!

Harper always makes me laugh

This is the second book in Molly Harper’s Mystic Bayou series. In this book, we meet Danica Teel, an energy witch. She works for the League and has been tasked to look into the Rift, which has been leaking energy into Mystic Bayou. She’s hiding her abilities from her family. She also quite the interesting family dynamic. Her hippy father isn’t around much. Her mother wasn’t ine picture much either.

The hero of this story is the town’s mayor, bear shifter Zed. He was one of the best side characters in the first book, so I excited to see him get his own story. I was not disappointed. He is quickly attracted to Dani. He’s doing some work on the house that she’s staying in, which he proceeds to stretch out so that he can spend more time around her.

The romance on this one is really sweet. Zed’s family is so cute around him and Dani. Bael, Zed’s best friend, town sheriff and the hero of book one, is also fun as a secondary character in this story. Jillian, the heroine of book one, is Dani’s boss and makes for some fun too. I’m glad we got to spend time with her and Bael.

There is also a bit of a mystery afoot too. Someone is not only making things difficult for Dani and her work on the rift, they are making things worse. There also seems to be someone trying to remove her completely from the project, in a very permanent fashion.

Another fun addition to the series. This series is exactly what you would expect from Molly Harper. A fun paranormal series with plenty of humor, food and sweet romance. I really love Molly Harper’s characters. They are so relatable with problems that you could see in your own life or maybe someone you know. They just feel so real and funny.

Narration
Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis continue to narrate this series, with each taking the chapters narrated by the heroine and hero, respectively. I’ve long been a fan of Amanda Ronconi, as she reads all of Molly Harper’s books. She does a great job bringing out the humor in her characters. This is only the second book I’ve listened to with Jonathan Davis (the first book in the series being my first book with him). I do like his narration. I think he brings out the laid back attitudes of the men in Mystic Bayou. He does read a bit slower than Amanda Ronconi. I didn’t feel quite the need to increase my listening speed with him, but it was a close thing. I know several people did adjust their speed for each chapter.

**I like to thank the publisher for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Fun

Definitely light reading. Love the storyline. I'm not much for the sex scenes, but that's just me.
