About this listen

The wildly popular Korean novels that inspired the hit webtoon!

Ever dreamt of waking up inside a novel? For Kim Roksu, this dream becomes reality when he finds himself in the shoes of Cale Henituse, the lazy, wine-loving son of a count--and punching bag for the novel's destined hero. Determined to dodge his grim fate, this new Cale Henituse vows to rewrite his story, aiming for a life of leisure far from heroic deeds and inevitable beatdowns.

But the path to a peaceful life is twisted by irony. As Cale plots his escape from destiny, he inadvertently gathers a motley crew of magical allies--including a haughty baby dragon and two mischievous kitten shapeshifters. Every attempt to avoid heroism entangles him further in a whirlwind of unforeseen adventures, proving that sometimes the best heroes are the ones who resist the call.

Great story line

Loved the story development, tho reading the manga, he seems almost emotionless. Love this tho.

loved the story but the translation lost some culture going to english

the dragon's voice should be cutier. I really enjoyed the story but the slight translation changes made the story lose some charm.

interesting yet natural subversion to the hero archetype.

The MC is a reluctant hero, that's isn't actually poorly veiled as an actual white knight. Yet, his reluctance feels natural and unforced, without devolving into disjointed selfish behavior. I enjoyed this and the manwha as well.

An Excellent Subversion of a Coming of Age Story.

I read this novel back when it was just a Korean Translation on a webnovel site, and the overall plot captivated me even then.

The MC doesn't think he's the hero, and even is going out of the way so that the actual "hero" of the story can step in and take the reigns of his own story already. In how he does so, is where the magic happens. Heck, despite stubbornly clinging onto his reputation of a lout, he really just comes off as a surprisingly reliable tsundere when the chips come down.

Interesting Male Lead

The main character keeps saying he doesn’t want to get involved, that he wants to stay out of the plot and that he will live quietly but somehow keeps doing the opposite. It’s amusing how he finds excuses for his actions, justifying them as necessary for his life as a future slacker. To everyone else he seems to be either ambitious or acting kind and noble.
I wish there were a couple more chapters read before it ended. A major event was saved for the next volume so this first book ends on a frustrating cliffhanger! I will definitely purchase the next volume when available.
Listening to the book was worthwhile. I got to hear the names being pronounced properly but I wish they could have added actual cat meows instead of having the reader meow…he does okay but it’s just awkward imagining a grown man meowing.

Finally an Audiobook

I've followed the story since it was only 30 or so chapters long and I've always wanted it be adapted into a audiobook and now it has. So yay for that. Wish they used the translation from the online translator (if you know you know) and not the seven seas one(no hate but it loses some of the je ne said quoi)
And, while the voice actor is quite good(easy to understand and with proper annunciation), I don't think he researched and/or read enough of the source material to properly assign the voice of the characters. Raon, Choi Han, Lark, etc. Raon sounds way too raspy and harah for a child(On and Hong sound convincingly like children though) Choi Han and Lark both sound like 30 year old chain smokers. Choi Han, okay maybe cause he is 17 and some teen boys have rough voices, but Lark is described as a 13/14 tall gangly and weak cause of his pure wolf blood which causes him to be 'immature physically in his human form' and 'Overly large and powerful in his wolf form'. There are other characters that weren't given proper voices but these 3 stood out the most.
Still over all a good performance.

this story about a isekied man was fun and unique

I loved the fun twist on the villain/villainess iseki trope I'm a huge fan of the genre but an even bigger fan of this series I really hope they create a large series for me to enjoy as I feel I could never be bored of Cale and his adventures. this is the story of a man bring isekied into a week villain from the first book of a series he had just stared as someone who hate anything complicated he happily uses the fact that he's supposed to be a lout to take what he thinks is the easier route leaving the more difficult stuff to people more willing and ready for such tasks. it's fun and interesting I fell like this world has so much in it that there could easily be hundreds of chapters written about it

slow

the narrator in the beginning is almost lifeless. you'd expect more soul out of TTS. he does start to pick up as the story goes out but it never really gets exciting.
overall it's a fun story with small audio quirks.
the "sound effects" are bad. it sucks that they feel the need to make the sounds via using the words with their voices instead of added effects. saying "rumble" or "squeeeek" doesn't really sell the experience that well.
still it is an overall decent experience and fun story

Great start

The story is interesting, the plot is pretty good, the main character isn’t overpowered nor is he a pathetic loser personality like Shinji from evangelion. I would say more about why but that would spoil it.
