Publisher's summary

New Adult: Recommended for ages 18+

Jess Miller is a focused, driven high school senior whose only goal is to get into the strict Christian college that her late mother attended. But when another student gets picked for early admission instead of her, she can see her dream slipping away.

With only two months left until winter break, Jess gets one final chance to prove herself to the board of admissions by doing a volunteer project at the local rehab center. Although it'll just be one more thing to add on top of her already packed academic and athletic schedule, she's determined to make it work and secure her spot at Trinity University.

That is, until she meets Sam, the charismatic and mysterious girl she's forced to volunteer with every day.

With time running out, and everything on the line, Jess must finally confront her inner demons and choose between what she's always known, and what her heart truly wants. And she has to do it before it's too late.

characters

I liked everything except the AI narrator. It lacked the emotional connection that only a human voice can evoke. Hopefully, this book can be redone with a real person.

virtual voice was terrible

this was the worst AI audiobook I've ever listened to. there was no emotion at all. made the book itself hard to enjoy. as for the book itself, it was just ok. I'd be OK if I never heard the word "Smirk" again after this. the author used it far too much

The author wrote a beautiful story of young Love. I enjoyed the story.

I have only listened to one other virtual voice
Book on audible. I won’t listen to another. This virtual voice made me imagine 2 robots being intimate. The inflections were in the wrong place. The hesitations, which are suppose to intrigue the listener were all wrong. I won’t be listening to another. To the author, your story was poignant. If I see another of your books non-virtual. I will certainly listen.

Great story. But never use AI narration again!

Storyline lacks a little dynamic and depth in the beginning but then it really starts to flow nicely. And the spice 🤌🏻. I imagine an AI narrator was chosen as a cheap option but it’s well worth the money for a human narrator. The roboticness really took away from the story at times. Good listen though as I traveled through Europe.

Genuinely Good

I just wanted to write a review to show my support for the author. I was pleasantly surprised with this story. The narration left something to be desired but I listened to this book for free and entirely in one sitting. So, I’m not complaining.

Great book

The book in it self is 5 stars but I hated the ai reader. If it had actual people reading it would’ve been great

A Solid Sapphic Romance

I'm a fan of the old "back-and-forth" trope, and I can't help it, but I feel like this was a solid listen. It moved at a fast enough pace as to where I wouldn't get bored, I enjoyed the character development, and I thought the plot was well thought out. It was too short and I'd honestly give it another go. The "virtual voice" was decent, not as well done as a real voice actor, but it'll suffice. Overall, i'd say 8.5/10!
