With 72 hours until the wedding, Emmy embarks with Josh on a road trip to help him find a mystery woman, and to answer some long overdue questions about who he wants to spend his life with. It isn’t only Josh who has some lessons to learn. Along the way, Emmy discovers some undeniable truths about what she wants from her own life, and she begins to realize that perhaps her own happy ending is not as far away as it seems.

Ok, not great.

Not my favorite this summer. Chose because I liked reader. But a bit unrealistic to me.

This is a great story that hooks you into the characters right from the beginning!

Good message

I loved the family interactions and the message that if you spend your life wanting something that is not possible you will miss all the great things that ARE.

It was a bit of a slow start for me. But I really enjoy the book. I would highly encourage you to hang in there and continue to read. It’s worth it! I’ve read many Laura Dave’s books and they never disappoint me

Another great story

Laura Dave has again created a multilayered story about a flawed and relatable female character. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Supporting the ones you love, even when you don’t understand what you are supporting.

Good story from start to finish. Rebecca Lohman has a way of making a good story great. I love the mom in this book, she truly let her children grow with small nudges here and there. She gave them the space to figure out who they were, and in return, they supported each other in the same way.

Stream of consciousness

Kept waiting for the story’s tension. Also the reader’s presentation was flat. Clearly she was reading and not performing.

Good author

Another one of her books that I enjoyed. Lover her book. Must read her books.

Disappointed

I love all other books from Laura Dave. This one could barely hold my interest.

This Narrator - ugh!

I really enjoy this author, and I have read several of her books. However, the quality of the narration can take a good book and make it absolutely unlistenable. Or take a rather average book and actually make it enjoyable. I’m afraid in this case it’s the former. This sounds like she’s dragging every word through tar. It’s exhausting to listen to! This is the same narrator that read “the last thing he told me“ and I remember finding that very difficult to listen to, but the story kept me engaged, and I had heard it was being made into a TV series so I wanted to finish the novel before watching the series. That extra motivation kept me moving through this thick, slow, overly extra narration. I am about halfway in and I’m not sure I’m going to be able to finish this. So if you are a reader listener who is sensitive to the quality of the narration, you will want to make sure you listen to the sample of this before buying the book.
