About this listen

Set on the Minnesota prairies in 1987, during a drought season that is fostering the demise of the family farms, the story features two intertwining narrators: a father searching for answers after his son commits a heinous murder, and a pastor's wife who has returned to the town for mysterious reasons of her own. A penetrating look at small-town America, reminiscent of Russell Banks' Sweet Hereafter or Affliction, driven by a powerful murder mystery, Little Wolves is a literary triumph.

Interesting with a Mystery

Mysterious and interesting, but heartwarming story. Look forward to finding more from this author and worth sharing.

Powerful story

The narrative is great. There are some triggers in this book of teenage gun violence but it’s done in a way to show the damage done to the teen that pushed him.
I loved the old legend told too.
Well written.

Beautiful literary experience

The author is a truly talented storyteller and uses beautiful prose to unfold a beautiful story. The word choice and the descriptive passages will speak to your heart while the plot and characters will keep you fully engaged. I highly recommend this book!

Good reaf

Very slow with a bunch of unhappy characters - it is just the kind of story that I like. I recommend. Would recommend even if it was not included in memership.

Slow start but…

I started this book twice. The first time I found it slow and only made it through about 4 chapters. A month or so later I started all over again and still found it a slow start but was determined to get farther than the first time. The storyline is a bit of a maze but I really got into it this time and quite enjoyed the story. I’m glad I listened to this one.

Ending was awful, but book is worth it?

I got this book for free. It had me really confused when in the first minute it talked about a wolf breastfeeding a human baby lol. The rest of the book was interesting and I liked the characters. I wish it had ended differently, but since it was free I don’t really care. It was good up until the last chapter. If you can listen for free you definitely should, but if you have to buy this book, don’t bother.

Morty

It was a good book. I enjoyed it. Kinda like a long form, much more somber version of a News from Lake Wobegon

Best book of the year

A mesmerizing listen for me. The narrator was a perfect match for this story that is both dark and redemptive. The story development is more complex than many novels, so I had to pay closer attention, but this is a writer with something to say. Highly recommend.
