About this listen

It is a truth universally acknowledged that an overly inflated ego must be in want of a spotlight.

When the actor set to play Mr. Darcy is found murdered in his dressing room, Pine Crest's annual AustenFest is derailed. Pepper Brooks must set her pride and prejudice aside to differentiate between rumor and truth as she searches for the killer.

Between running her new bookstore and trying to decide who is a Darcy and who is a Wickham, Pepper quickly finds that her story might not end as happily as those written by Jane Austen.

Austin Fest!! Yes Please!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I have not read the first or second book when I got this and realized it was book 3. But it was still great and a good stand alone story too.
My favorite is the Austinfest!!! Oh my goodness I want to go! But things get shady when the lead actor is not only forced out of his role as Mr Darcy but then suddenly found murdered in the trailer of Thomas King! The man replacing him. So much mystery to find out whole killed him. Pepper is starts getting death threats as she slowly starts to unravel what happened. Them before she knows it... she has been tied up and is being thrown in a lake.
Very good and the Jane Austin book references are awesome!! Just the interesting twist this murder needed.
Anna does an awesome job narrating too. I really felt like I was there at the Austinfest! Such a great performance.

Love Pepper Brooks

Wow! What a great read. I have been reading the Pepper Brooks Literally series and this keeps getting better and better. The mystery part was very intriguing and kept me guessing. I really enjoyed Pepper's thought process in working out the antagonist. I also enjoyed how Pepper was growing within herself, her family, her community, and with Alex.
The Jane Austin theme throughout the book worked very well, in particular the references to Lizzy and Mr Darcy. I loved the quotes.
Eryn Scott has written another enjoyable mystery and I look forward to reading many more. Anna Caputo, a new to me narrator, did a great job at drawing me into the story.

Fun, Austen-inspired Cozy Mystery

Literally Gone

Literally Gone is book 3 in a the new cozy mystery series by Eryn Scott. I really enjoy her books and, although I jumped into this series a couple books in, I was still hooked and looking to listen to more in this series. I love the Stoneybrook Series and was hoping this would be as good. It did not disappoint.

A few reviewers have complained that this is a YA book. I totally disagree. It is a cozy mystery with no sex, a little romance, and lots of mystery. I listened to this book as I drove back and forth to the hospital while my husband fought his losing battle with cancer. It was just the light and engaging read I needed in a dark time.

In this installment of the Pepper Brooks series, Pepper is in charge of sales for the town’s annual Jane Austin week. This includes play productions of several of Austin’s works over the week. As the “big” ending production of Pride and Prejudice nears, Pepper’s school nemesis, a now well known albeit second string actor, shows up and takes over the lead in the play. Much to the dismay of the current lead. When the lead shows up dead in the newcomer’s trailer the action begins with a race to figure out whodoneit. Although I had some suspicions early on, there were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing until the end. It is perfect for cozy mystery lovers.

The audiobook is ably narrated by Anna Caputo. She did a very creditable job voicing the characters and I felt each had their own personality. She was easy to listen to and brought life to the narration. I will definitely look for her in other audiobooks.

Intriguing Cozy Mystery

I am loving the cozy mysteries written by Eryn Scott that I have read/listened too. The narrator Anna Caputo is new to me and I enjoyed her performance as she brought this cozy mystery to life for me.
This series is set in Pine Crest, Washington and I love that it is a small town. I enjoyed the literary references which I found entertaining as Pepper sifted through the clues. I envy Pepper Brooks owning her own book store, it is something I have always wanted to do.
This was a a book filled with enough danger, suspense secrets and clues to satisfy my detective spirit. The intrigue and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat as I listened to this story. There are several twists, turns and surprises in Literally Gone as Pepper, Olivia and Alex follow the clues and I have to say that I was surprised by the ending.
