Acerca de esta escucha

The ships of the world are under attack, attacks so sudden and vicious that many ships are lost without a single distress call.

Enter the Event Group, the most secret organization in US history. Armed with proof that history is repeating itself, the Group finds themselves in the grasp of an insane genius straight out of the pages of Jules Verne.

This exhilarating re-imagining of the Jules Verne and Alexandre Dumas classics, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and The Count of Monte Cristo, will keep you glued to your head phones. It is a fast paced and entertaining story spanning 150 years and culminating with an Event team underground and underwater nuclear face-off. David Golemon has hit one out of the park! And Richard Poe does not miss a beat with his performance. I highly recommend this. Just one small word of caution: It helps if you have read at least one of the previous books in the series to know some of the characters’ back stories. I would recommend Event, the first in the Event Group Thriller Series. Enjoy.

With this author you never know what storyline is going to come at you. Being well into the series i went back to close out the series. The description didn't appeal that much to me. But, like that perviable box of chocolate it was delicious.
To critics all I can say is if you want a book based in fact you should stick with non fiction.

A perfect geod

The retelling of 20,000 leagues with a modern twist. This is the fourth of the event group books and the over arching plot is helping evolve the characters. The BASIS of the series....tales have a basis in fact....is a staple to why fairy tales work to help manage cultural morals.

Modern Captain Nemo.

Like most of the Event Group books, I really enjoyed the look into the author's depiction of historical works, such as the Count of Monte Cristo, and Fictional characters like Nemo. The book was action packed and the depiction of the "Bad Guys" was interesting. Plus there was a pretty solid plug for conservation efforts throughout which I agreed with. My only real issue with the book is the way the characters flat out dismiss some of the aspects as, "impossible" "mythical" or "Insane". This is a group of people that have seen actual alien life forms, and what is basically an amphibious swamp monster and other unbelievable things, and every one there is completely closed to what's happening. If I had seen what they had seen and someone told me that big foot had a plan for world domination, I might not believe it, but I'd at least let the guy try and prove it. Even the guy in charge of the Crypto-biology division just flat out rejects the idea of a life form out of hand. I mean, that's literally his job. Although this aspect didn't have a huge part to play in the plot, and the rest of the book was really quite good, it was something that bugged me whenever it came up.

Another good book

Henri Farbeaux makes this book worth reading. Coolest Frenchman Ever. Can't wait to see what is next.

Side note, wanted to flip out ever time they said dived instead of dove.

Another good one.

A good yarn, weaving in old stories with the present. One needs to overlook errors or oversights here and there, but once past these (Use of stature measurements in a European environment and a mismatch in counting the number of tubes vs missiles launched) it’s very engaging.

Entertaining

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Not sure who might like it, but it was a definite disappointment for me. Does not measure up to prior stories in this series.

Has Leviathan turned you off from other books in this genre?

No.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Narration was fine, but could not overcome the storyline.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Leviathan?

This may be harsh, but as an editor I would not have submitted this for publication.

Any additional comments?

This is probably others' cup of tea, Just not for me. Too far out.

Silly
